The cost was 5/- or five schillings. This practice ceased during 1917. 1 - License No. 179, was issued to George A Barrett of Port Melbourne who was a tram conductor on the 16/1/1914. Letter, Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB), "Proposed Electrification of Collins St - cable Tramway", 12/1927
Provides information in the form of a letter to Parliamentary members about the reasons why the electrification of Collins St should proceed from the MMTB viewpoint, though it was not part of the 1923 General Scheme. The City of Melbourne initially wanted a conduit system, main issue was overhead wires, looks at other possibilities.
