This douche, with the manufacturers object description of "heisswasserspulungen" which translates as healing water douche, came from the Edward Rowden White Estate. The heisswasserpular designed by Dr Walzer-Frank was used as a vaginal douche by attaching a rubber hose to the glass connector which was then inserted into the vagina. In The Netherlands restrictions were imposed gradually but by 1942 it was imperative the family Frank either hide or be transported East. Although many were betrayed by fellow Dutch, in this case 8 Jews were kept hidden at the work address of father, Otto Frank. At the risk of their own lives his colleagues brought food and news. Anne had received a diary for her 13th birthday and immediately made it into her best and most secret friend. Jock Clutterbuck is a sculptor and printmaker of national significance, known for his sophisticated abstract forms with underlying esoteric mysticism. Clutterbuck overlapped with Baldessin when he studied sculpture and printmaking at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, RMIT (1965-66). He taught at RMIT from (1969-73) before lecturing in sculpture at the Victorian College of the Arts (1974-2000). He is represented in many national and international public art collections and is a recipient of many National prizes and awards. George Baldessin (1939-1978) was a printmaker and sculptor who built his bluestone studio at St Andrews (Nillumbik) in 1971. The bluestone studio was hand built by George, his partner Tess and the three Hails brothers, Rob, Doug and Don. Made of recycled materials the studio today contains all of George’s equipment including the large press, which he modelled himself with the help of Neil Jeffrey (Enjay Presses). George won many prizes throughout his career and is represented in many of Australia's public art collections including his famous 'Pears' sculpture in front of the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra. In 1975 he represented Australia in the Sao Paulo Biennale, before living and working in Paris until his return to St Andrews in 1977. In 1978 George was killed in a car accident aged 39 years. In 2001 Tess returned to St Andrews to reclaim the run-down studio and reconstitute it as The Baldessin Press & Studio - a printmaking retreat. It operates in George’s memory, so that artists may continue to create, perpetuating the generous spirit of George.‘Frosty Night Cartouche’ is one of eight prints in the 'Baldessin & Friends commemorative folio. The folio was conceived by Tess Edwards as a fundraising initiative in celebration of the The Baldessin Press & Studio's fifteen year anniversary, and as a way to honour George Baldessin's memory. A tribute to Captain Kenneth Malcolm Mortimer by his nephew Dr Owen Campbell Mortimer. Kenneth was born on the 9th October 1895 at Leneva near Wodonga and went to Agricultural High School in Wangaratta in 1912 before entering the Royal Military College Duntroon in 1913. He was killed in action on 20th July 1916, three months before his 21st birthday, at the Battle of Fleurbaix, Fromelles in France. His remains were unknown for 102 years when DNA testing confirmed the identity of nine Australian soldiers found buried in a mass grave near Pheasant Wood. The graves of these nine soldiers will be rededicated on July 19 2018.Mortimer entered the Royal Military College, Duntroon on 10 March 1913 and was graduated early, along with the rest of his class, on 28 June 1915. Mortimer had been a member of the college's photography club and took numerous pictures of his fellow cadets. He was appointed as a Lieutenant with the 29th Battalion on 1 July 1915 and embarked with his unit for Egypt in November 1915.
