Built after World War 1, the monument originally stood on the corner of Whitehorse & Railway Roads before being moved to Morton Park on 20th April 1969. The memorial was erected in memory of those from the district who were killed during WW1. Those who lost their lives in WW2 were added on the other side of the memorial as well as plaques commemorating later conflicts. The monument is a grey granite obelisk on a single stepped bluestone base on a concrete platform.Coloured photograph of a war memorial surrounded by flower gardens. The photo was taken on ANZAC Day 1985 at the Kangaroo Flat RSL service with Bill Forrest leading. William (Bill) Malcolm Forrest was born in Moora WA, enlisted 12.4.1951 No 5/1788 age 18 years and became a Sapper. After attending Battle School in Japan he then served with 3 RAR in Korea, DVA file states 12.7.1953 to 15.7.1954. He later went on to serve with 2 RAR in Malaya. He was discharged after 6 years service on 11.4.1957, discharge certificate states Active Service being 1 year 337 days. He re enlisted again on 11 3.1958 with Regt No 36283 and served another 17 years 165 days and was discharged with the rank of Sgt on 22.8.1975. During this engagement he had Corps and Trade Training 6 months, Regimental, Steward, Army Mess Supervisor and General Duties with Training and Survey Units.Photograph B & W showing a group of men marching in an ANZAC Day Parade. Designed in 2004 by sculptor Peter Lambert the memorial honours more than 35,000 Australians held prisoner of war during the Boer War, both world wars and the Korean War.Landscape featuring the Ballarat Prisoner of War Memorial. The memorial includes a 130 metre long wall of highly polished granite engraved with the names of all Australian prisoners of war. The minutes of the second trust gives an account of the success of the second trust. Items in the folder include a letter from Lionel Wallace to Jim Gillespie suggesting the creation of the trust, along the lines of the President's Fund, where a committee can deal with individual cases of hardship of a widow with discretion. The World War One Memorial Stained glass windows in the Barkly Street Uniting Church resulted from a request made in 1919 by the Barkly Street Young Men's Club to be given permission to raise money to pay for the project. The window was designed by Fisher Co. Pty Ltd, and was unveiled by a former army chaplain - either Rev. J.A. Gaunt or Rev. Bladen on the 14th March 1920. The total cost of the windows was 171 pounds 10 shillings.
