Enamel sign - steel back, white enamel background with black letters, "Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board" / A reward of Two pounds will be paid by the Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board for information leading to the conviction of any person or persons wilfully damaging or interfering with this apparatus." Has the marks from the sign being supported during the enamelling process on the rear. Has damage around each corner and has four small holes in the bottom right hand corner, suggesting another sign may been attached to this one. Series of 15 black and white photographs of the track works to reconstruct tram lines showing various methods and works during the 1960's. .1 - Jackhammers concrete out around wooden sleepers - the rails have been bolted to them. .2 - Excavated track or temporary track next to newly relaid track - Hawthorn Road by Caulfield Park? .3 - Partly completed work - nearest track relaid, second track still has wood blocks? and then a temporary track. .4 - Excavated previously concreted and bolted track. Some of the group appear to have returned servicemen badges. Made by Darge studio, 360 William St Melbourne Phone F4497. Ticket - 2d black printing on off white paper, over printed in red for "City Section". Ticket No. M472012. Has a Fishers Ink advert on rear. See htd3959doc.pdf for a detailed investigation of the ticket, where it was found and discussions with the donor. Summary - found in an archaeological dig for 74 Collins St - see htd3959doc1.pdf - which gives the background to the history of the site. Ticket found nearby a 1928 paper. Gary Davey, see htd3959doc for background could not date the ticket, though is landscape format and single row of punch marks are of note. Most likely c1928. See Reg Item 1460 for a 1988 and 1769 for a Feb. 1977 examples. 3. - Form - printed on off white paper, form No. 3/203, titled "Conductor's Running Journal", to be used by conductors to record trips, fares sold along with crews names and number. Has fares from 10c to $1. In right hand margin, has Control phone numbers. 4. - Printed form on off white paper titled "Weekly Record of Conductors Ticket Outfit", form 3/137, Aug 1975 - training or sample form as has starting or commencing numbers for ticketing printed onto the sheet. Set up for a six day week, closing numbers for each day, tickets from 10c to $1.00 city, conductors name, depot, person who extended or completed the sheet and checked it. Enabled the revenue clerks to tally the amount that should have been paid in by a conductor against the actual amount. Black and white print of MMTB Bus No. 79. This was the second tourist bus, imported by MMTB Chairman Bell from Canada in 1939. It was built by the Canadian Car Co. Because of WW2, it was put into normal passenger service in July 1940 and had a mundane existence from that time onwards. It was sold to Melbourne Brighton Bus Lines however they never used it. Bus has the destination of Nicholson St. Appears is poor condition. Has other Mark III buses in the background. All have PTC Copyright Stamp on rear. The CW5 tramcar was effectively a W5 tram using Brill 22E bogies or trucks as an economy measure during the mid-1930s. The trams were underpowered, with MMTB No. 15 bogies being fitted in 1956.
