Series of six (6) Nucolorvue postcards with serrated edges of scenes around Bendigo featuring Bendigo trams under the operation of either the SECV or the Bendigo Trust. 963.1 - "The Cenotaph and Alexandra Fountain" at Charing Cross. Has Bendigo bogie car in background. Also the Beehive building and Ezywalkin shoes. Nucolorvue postcard BE41 on rear and other information in green ink. 963.2 - "Tram No. 25, a maximum traction car built in 1916. Now operated by The Bendigo Trust between Central Deborah Mine and Emu Point." Features No. 25 in Bendigo Trust colours with Coca Cola and Bendigo Timber Co ads on the roof. On nearby pole is a "Bendigo Talking Vintage Tram" signs. In background is the Beehive building and other buildings near Charing Cross. Has one photograph of No. 26 outside the depot. .2 - Newspaper from The Courier, titled "Just like the old days", Monday Feb. 3, 1975, following the formal re-opening for the BTPS. Has four trams in the photo with Bill Stephen MLA and Dudley Erwin MP standing alongside. Essay, Richard Gilbert, "My Uncle Bill - The Tramway Man", 2014
Essay or article prepared by Richard Gilbert in 2014 about his Uncle Bill - William Simpson. His father Stephen Simpson was a cable tram conductor. After serving in the army in the medical service in Europe, Bill joined the MMTB in 1921 as a Conductor at Kew Depot and then as a driver or motorman. He recalls the accident with tram No. 65 at Deepdene when the tram was hit by the Deepdene Dasher. After a transfer to Malvern Depot in 1926, he remained there until 1944 when he worked in the electrical shop at Preston Workshops. He retired in 1959, passing in April 1985 aged 87 years. This item was published by the Ballarat Tramway Museum in the June 2020 issue of Fares Please! Photograph of vacant tramcar wash road facility, presumably at Kew Depot. Three W2 class trams are partially shown on adjacent roads, one displaying route number 47 (City to Kew Depot). Several semi-circular windows are shown high on the rear wall. Along both sides of the vacant road are narrow 40 cm wide platforms approx 60 cms above the car shed floor with safety rails attached. An open pit sits between the two platforms. A water hose pipe appears in the foreground and all surfaces appear wet. With a tram was positioned between these platforms, part of the platform could be swung across the front of the tram to facilitate its washing. Yields information about maintenance facilities inside tram shed.
