The original art piece was painted by Australian artist Will Longstaff after he attended the unveiling ceremony of the Menin Gate memorial at the entrance of the Belgian town of Ypres in 1927. The 100th anniversary of the proclamation and declaration of the "Caulfield Road District" was held on 15 October 1957. A variety of public events were organised to celebrate this memorable occasion between 13 October and 8 November 1957. The "Centenary of Caulfield 1857-1957" photograph album which contains annotated images of these events is considered of great historical importance as a unique record of Caulfield events, people and places during this time. The Caulfield Centenary events were held between 13 October and 8 November 1957. Key participants included the Mayor of the City of Caulfield, Councillors, officers, and a wide range of community groups. Witnessing the Japanese surrender and signing of Peace Document on Morotai 1945.During WWII Vern Roberts was an LAC Fitter 2A (airframe) in RAAF 24 Squadron. He was stationed on Morotai at the time of the Japanese surrender. All personnel on Morotai at the time were required to attend the parade to witness the signing of the Peace Document. Vern had with him the camera his mother had given him when he left Australia to serve in the RAAF. He carried that camera and used it throughout his war service in the Northern Territory and on Morotai. Vern took the pictures of the ceremony, now on display with his camera. General Sir Thomas Blamey signed the Surrender Document on behalf of the Allied Forces.a17.1

On November 7, 2015 a small park in Greensborough (previously known as McKenzie Court Park, corner Plenty Lane and McKenzie Court) was renamed as Barclay Park after a local family. henry and Dorothy Barclay farmed Grace Park from 1938. Members of the family were present at the ceremony conducted by Banyule Mayor Craig Langdon assisted by Ward Councillor Mark di Pasquale. Born in 1893, Anthony Bolam was the Station Master at Ooldea Siding on the Trans-Australian Railway from 1920 to 1925. Bolam was very interested in Aboriginal culture and was a careful and sympathetic recorder of their lifestyle, customs and ceremonies. A keen photographer, he took many photographs of the Aboriginal people who congregated at Ooldea Siding in the early 1920s. Many of these photographs were included in this book. He died in 1966. This item is a useful research tool as it contains a contemporary description and photographsof the Aboriginal people of Ooldea, a tiny settlement in South Australia, on the eastern edge of the Nullarbor Plain. A small 134 pp book with a red and white cover which has a photograph of an Aboriginal holding a spear. The book has some full-page b/w plates and a folding map at the end.inside on front page - No. 58

He has toured the world mostly competing in Masters athletics and counts as one of his favourite sporting hightlights - carrying the Olympic torch through Melbourne CBD as it neared the final leg in the opening ceremony of the 1956 Games at the MCG, where in later years he has also shown many visitors around as a tour guide.

Robin Gerard Penleigh Boyd was admitted to the degree of Doctor of Letters on the 21st day of October 1967 at University of New England. The family attended the outdoor ceremony. The Doctor of Letters Certificate (item D490) is also part of the Walsh Street Archive. Zelman Cowen was Vice Chancellor at University of New England 1967-1970.
