In the view are the GPO, Newing's Artists materials, Royal Arcade, and Turner's bicycles. The letter is dated 8/12 from an Eck in Toorak addressed to Doris Ettelson in Ballarat. The stamp used was introduced in 1913 by the Commonwealth Government as the first National stamp - see reference. Card published by C T Melbourne. A report was written by Alf Twentyman titled "The Horse Omnibuses" about the operation firstly by the Melbourne Omnibus Co from 23/3/1869 and then from 1877 the Melbourne Tramway and Omnibus Co. Looks at the routes, buses, staff, and stables operated. The report titled "Proposed Melbourne to Burwood Electric Tramway and Electrification of Hawthorn Horse Tramway" by McCarty Underwood dated May 1914. Report prepared as a precursor to the formation of the Hawthorn Tramways Trust. The report looks at the estimated costs, revenue, expenditure and engineering difficulties. Only considered a line to Burwood, not Wattle Park. Has a page looking at the use of Storage Battery cars. Report or list titled "Particulars of single truck cars & Suggested order in which they should be scrapped" Dated 26/4/1927. Seems that the 3rd and 4th sheets were initial drafts while the 1st and 2nd the later version, though still with some corrections. Lists car (tramcar) numbers, No. of cars, seating capacity, wheel base, horse power, type of car body - lists class, type of truck and type of equipment. The 3rd and 4th sheets also gave the weight in tons. List the cars that had already been scrapped. The St Kilda/Port Melbourne and Queens bridge are in view, but not the Spencer St bridge which was built during the late 1920s. The AW Allen's Limited Confectionary Factory constructed in 1923-24 on Riverside Avenue dominates the landscape on the south side of the river directly behind the dome of the Flinders Street railways station.
