The Mepunga & District Racing Club was formed at a meeting of sportsmen from various hamlets east of Warrnambool held at the Allans Forest State School, Mepunga West. The club was formed to conduct picnic race meetings in aid of charity and patriotic funds. On the committee were two representatives from Allansford, Cudgee, Mepunga, Nirranda, Nullawarre and Panmure, with Mr. W. Bant of Panmure elected as president. The club held its first race meeting, at Warrnambool, on 22 April 1944 in aid of district Red Cross Funds. It held four annual picnic race meetings from 1944 to 1947. The photo shows a group of Legatees who attended the 13th Annual Legacy Club Conference held in April 1940 in Launceston. The names are not known. The Legacy conference was held periodically, often annually, and allowed Legatees from across Australia to gather together. The aim of the annual conference was an exchange of ideas and methods of carrying out Legacy functions, and to form general policy for cooperation between clubs and groups. From TROVE. Delegates and observers will arrive in Launceston this week to be present at the ceremony of presenting the Charter of Legacy to the Hobart Club on Wednesday evening. The organisation in Hobart has been functioning for many years as the Remembrance Club, but has now accepted the invitation of Legacy to join up, using as its new name "Remembrance Club (Hobart Legacy)." ' The man second from left on the front row is Frank Wittman, who was the smallest man to have enlisted in the 1st AIF and as such the shortest Legatee. This is a card sent by Mr and Miss Robertson thanking the Warrnambool Club members for their sympathy following a recent bereavement. The Warrnambool Club was established in 1873 as a gentlemen’s club and the Warrnambool Club building in Kepler Street, still standing today, was erected in 1877. No information is available on the Robertson family except that they lived in Penshurst but it is presumed that Mr Robertson was a member of the Warrnambool Club.This card is of interest as it has a social history showing the type of bereavement card used in the early 1900s – a plain card with a black edging. These cards could be purchased in bulk with a blank sheet for inserting the relevant details. The connection with the Warrnambool Club and the Robertson family is also of interest.This is a small cream-coloured card with black edging. It has handwritten material on it written in black ink. Club Hotel, East Ringwood in November 1969Written on backing sheet, "Club 1969. Site originally marked out as local cemetery 1871. Hotel built as single storey 1877" The hotel has a long association with the Reddish family, thus given the name of "Daisy's Hotel". Ryman Healthcare bought the site in 2019, including the garden supply business next door, making up a 2.2ha area. The proposal was for a $220 million retirement village to be built. The location is next to Ringwood Lake with the old hotel being knocked down in the early 2020s. Was H17 in previous numbering system.

The Warrnambool Racing Club was formed in 1854 and the first race meetings were held at the site of the present-day racecourse in the late 1850s. Today the chief event on the Warrnambool racing calendar is the annual three-day May Racing Carnival, with the main event being the well-known Warrnambool Grand Annual Steeplechase. The Servicemen's Club was owned by a Co Operative of the 3 Bendigo RSL's being Bendigo, Kangaroo Flat & Eaglehawk Sub Branches'. The Co Operative Society remained until the year 2000 when the facility became the "Bendigo & District RSL Club Inc". The membership re David Patterson 1978. He was a Bendigo RSL delegate for the Co Operative Society for its entire time until closure in 2000. He was one of the first Vietnam Veterans to serve on the Committee of the Bendigo RSL Sub Branch from 1976 - 78, he was Jnr Vice President for 1977 - 78. A colour slide people gathered at the Royal Victorian Motor Yacht Club in 1959 for Operation Float. Operation Float was an event run by Melbourne Legacy to take Junior legatees on an outing. It could have been to naval boats such as HMAS Cerberus or to a Yacht club. It gave the junior legatees the opportunity to see a naval boat in action, spend time on the water or try sailing. Was with many other slides taken in the 1950s and 1960s. The slides have been photographed to make digital images and moved to archive quality sleeves. Typically in Kew, this included teams in lawn bowls, tennis and croquet. The Kew Bowling Club was formed in 1880 while the privately owned Auburn Heights Recreation Club was opened in 1904. By 1998, the two Clubs decided to amalgamate at the Auburn Heights site in Barkers Road, forming the Kew Heights Sports Club. The combined club was itself taken over by the Melbourne Cricket Club in 2012 becoming MCC Kew Sports Club. In 2017 MCC Kew closed and its landholding was subsequently sold to Carey Baptist Grammar School. Both the Kew and Auburn Heights Clubs assembled important collections. Ski-Horizon is the official journal of the Federation of Victorian Ski Clubs which began publication in 1949. The were 26 original member clubs which included Albury Ski Club, Bogong Ski Club, Myrtleford Ski Club, Tallangatta and District Ski Club and Wangaratta Ski Club.
