This legislation will replace the existing 'Archaeological and Aboriginal Relics Preservation Act 1972' and enabled the Commonwealth Government to consider repealing Part IIA of the 'Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection Act 1984 (Cth).
