A two-piece object, comprising of: an unstrung Lobster 'Lobster Graphite' tennis racquet, with a split shaft, strengthened by a narrow bridge across the middle (1); and, a vinyl cover (2). Lobster emblem comprising of a crayfish serving a tennis ball features at the base of the racquet shaft. Lobster emblem and logo feature on a sticker adhered to butt cap, and also across both faces of the cover. Glass chimney from a Melbourne Cable tram oil headlamp - base partly broken and top broken off and damaged - four fragments from original. Has a note that the lamp was restored by Alf Twentyman, later take by Norm Maddock for the Stanhope St Museum. Written by Robert Green Feb. 2015. The chimney has dirt marks on the inside. The object has been identified as a vaginal (douche) irrigator. The glass tube is similar in appearance, however, to one of the four types of Brewer's glass cannula used in direct blood transfusion. (Reference Down Bros, page 958A)Mary Howlett (1840-1922) began practising as a country midwife in 1866 in the western district of Victoria. She qualified as a 'ladies monthly nurse' in 1887 and continued to practise as a nurse and midwife until 1920.She began her six months training at the Melbourne Lying-In Hospital. She was known by many as 'Auntie', and her career spanned more than 50 years. Mrs Howlett's midwifery box and contents were given to Dr Frank Forster, and he donated them to the museum collection in 1993.Glass tube, which functions as a vaginal irrigator. There is a curve in the tube, and it gets wider at proximal (far) end. The distal (near) end is round and blunt for attachment to rubber tubing.irrigation, midwifery

Box is marked "W.C.C.U" - perhaps Wesley College Cadet Unit. In earlier times, school cadet units were allowed to learn safe handling of weapons including the Vickers machine gun. These objects are rusty metal horseshoes with nails attached, they were found on property that was owned by Les Aldridge of the Kismet Park Stud, Sunbury.
