Crafty Carson Carpetbag, Old Man Redback and Elvis Evil Eagle stole the rainmaking kit from The Flying Dogtor's plane. Elvis Evil Eagle (aka The Bodgie Bird) flew up again and sprinkled the powder into the clouds. The rain started filling the gully and the creek flooded into the homestead. Before the end of August 1851 the government had decided to charge a large licence fee for the right to search for gold. When news of that decision reached the Buninyong diggings, the first protest on the Victorian goldfields was held. Just north of the South New Moon mine on the Garden Gully reef, off the Bendigo/Pyramid Road, the New Moon mine began in 1867. In 1878 it purchased the lease of the adjoining Robin Hood Coy. The mine closed in 1917 and was reopened by the Bendigo Amalgamated Coy. in 1928 and closing for good in 1932. Loco: 3A In service Monday, 4th June 1900 Livery Not painted Owner Puffing Billy Gauge 762 Status Stored 3A Built in 1900 and painted two-tone green, this locomotive was issued to the Upper Ferntree Gully to Gembrook line and was used in the line’s construction. Over the years, it saw service on the Colac to Crowes and Moe to Walhalla lines, but it saw more service on the Gembrook line than any other. It was withdrawn from service in 1955 at Upper Fern Tree Gully and sold in 1960 to the Lord Mayor’s Camp at Portsea where it remained on static display until 1977. From there it was eventually brought to Belgrave for eventual restoration.
