Three copies of a Letter, dated November 5, 1936, from Sister M. Monica to Sister Mary Gonzaga, relating to her the benefits of using scalebuoys in the water to the boilers and hot water systems. It had removed scale from the pipes. The only problem they had was the scale that had fallen off blocking the traps and that soon stopped. Scalebuoys were going to be installed in the cold water system as soon as there was more money to do it.Letterhead -St Josephs Hospital Phoenix Arizonasciences, instruments - general, scalebuoy, bill ashman collection - correspondence, st joseph's hospital arizona, sister mary gonzaga, mater misericordiae hospital auckland, mr herzog, st mary's hospital san francisco, mr abbott, sister mary monica -

Slide - DIGGERS & MINING. THE GOLD LICENCE, c1851
Diggers & Mining. The gold licence. The Government Camp. Between 1851 and 1854, there was continual unrest on nearly all of the Victorian diggings, due chiefly to the licence system and the repressive methods of its enforcement (though there were other causes - see Unit 8). The diggers held protest meetings; they formed diggers' associations; they sent petitions to the government. At times, serious rioting threatened - as at Bendigo in 1853. But the Legislative Council continued the system; Markings: 37 994.LIF. 4. Used as a teaching aid.hanimounteducation, tertiary, goldfields -

record cover, 1950's - 1960's
Coronet was a record label in Australia, based in Sydney. It operated from the early 1950s until around 1962 and was recognizable by its octagonal label. The phonograph disc record was the primary medium used for music reproduction until late in the 20th century, replacing the phonograph cylinder record—with which it had co-existed from the late 1880s through to the late 1920s. Records retained the largest market share even when new formats such as compact cassette were mass-marketed. By the late 1980s, digital media, in the form of the compact disc, had gained a larger market share, and the vinyl record left the mainstream in 1991. This record sleeve/jacket is an example of a music media not commonly used in the 21st century.A cream coloured paper sleeve for a CBS Coronet record 78. Equipment - Beam Balance, C. Staudinger & Co, John W. Glover's Beam Balance, c. 1915
John Warren Glover was a significant operator of cyanide re-processing works in the goldfields from around 1900. He lived at 123 Webster Street for many years, and operated quite a substantial three roomed private laboratory on the grounds for assays associated with his operations. This balance was used at that laboratory. The Webster Street property is believed to be the first brick fronted house in Ballarat and the bricks were ballast from a Scottish Ship. The property remained in the Glover Family until it was sold in 1955. John Warren had car or licence registration no 12. A German made beam balance that would have been an extremely sensitive, and top of the line for its time (probably 1910 – 20’s). It has a long beam and a complex system of jewel knife edges and bearings. Plaque on front with C. Staudinger & Co.
