This is a program for the events held in the 1992 Glenelg Games. These were held annually and began in 1982. The activities in 1992 included swimming, softball, ballroom dancing, surfing, tennis, shearing, go carting and croquet. The Games are organized by the Glenelg Sports Assembly, a regional body with representatives of sporting clubs, local government and interested individuals. The Assembly aims to promote sport in the Glenelg Region and hosts and organizes a number of other activities as well as the annual Games. This program is of interest as it demonstrates the number and range of activities that were included in the Glenelg Games of 1992. This is a booklet of 12 stapled pages. Set above ground level, it provided blind cricket players with shelter and storage underneath, as well as a venue for dances and other social activities organised by groups and the AFB. Organisations that Dorothy Anderson belonged to included many items to represent their clubs eg. badges, spoons, activities eg. crocheting. Dorothy lived in Tawonga indicating that those clubs existed in the town/area and were typical of regional areas of the time. These items were the property of Tawonga Citizen, Mrs Dorothy Anderson, who passed away in 2014, aged 90 years. She belonged to local clubs which existed in the area and acquired memorabilia belonging to those clubs and activities thus giving an insight into the life of women in regional towns. They will show the work done in physical training and speech therapy classes. Boys will give gymnastic displays including wrestling and tumbling. Girls will feature costume dances and tableaux. They made the dresses themselves. This is one in a series of letters written by various seafarers to Lillie Duncan. Lillie was a member of the Ladies' Harbour Lights Guild during the 1920s. She seems to have struck up a number of friendships with seafarers who used the facility. The Ladies' Harbour Lights Guild was responsible for much of the fundraising that constructed and maintained the organisation from its inception in 1902. They were also responsible for arranging dances and other social activities designed to make seafarers welcome in a strange environment.The purpose of the Mission to Seafarers is, as it always was, to provide comfort and welfare services to visiting seafarers.
