Ephemera - Tour Booking Form, Rail Tourist Association, "W3 661 Tram tour - Melbourne Revisited", May. 1989
Four page (two sheets of A4 - double sided) on gold paper, printed as a Tour Booking form for a tour of Melbourne tram lines, titled "W3 661 Tram tour - Melbourne Revisited" for 27/5/1989. The tram was on loan at the time to "Yappa Tours" from the BTPS. See first and second paragraphs for details of the tram being in Melbourne. Also contained on pages 1 and 2 are notes on W3 class trams, their history and dispersal. Pages 2, 3 and 4 give details of the tour and the booking form. Tour operated by the Rail Tourist Association. Tour booking officer was Geoff Cargeeg. Printed using a typed wax stencil and then duplicated. The two sheets have been stapled in the top left hand corner. Note spelling of "Yappa" - other documents have used "Yapper"w3 class, yapper tours, rail tourist association, tours -

Prepared by the MMTB, titled "Salute to Australia Pageant - Australia Day 1st February 1982", "Background details of Vintage Trams in Service" for use on 1/2/1982. Printed on both sides of pink sheet of foolscap paper, using a wax stencil and duplicator. Gives details of MMTB 214 (V), Ballarat 27, MMTB 180 (T), Bendigo 19, MMTB 104 (L) and standby tram MMTB 164 (S). Details tram number, date built, for built for, points of interest and present operator. Has a printed list of all employees or staff underneath. Titled "Ballarat Tramways Employees 1971". Photograph on light stipple paper. Features 61 personnel but only 60 apparently named. Set of two black and white photographs which have been coloured to show possible arrangements for covers to the side frames of a Brill 21E and Brill 22E (single truck or four wheel truck or bogie tram). 1793.1 - Showing possible arrangement for a cover for a maximum traction tram truck - cover has been outlined in red and then coloured to match the tram colour. Album comprises heavy cardboard covers with brown Rexene covers, with inside papers of heavy dark grey photo album paper, 36 leaves of dark grey photo paper and two brass interscrews within black grommets. See Condition Details re damage to back cover. Album contains 32 photos - personal prints of Keith Kings. Title page has been hand written to Les Denmead, dated 6/7/1970, thanking Mr. Denmead for his assistance over the years. Photos divided into the three SEC Provincial Tramway cities, each with a typed name proceeding the set of photos. Two further photos of Geelong were at the rear of the album, but were not in position when catalogued. One of these photos may be Reg. Item 1874 - photo of Geelong scrubber tram. Each of the photographs have been separately registered, as shown in the table below. Scanned images made of front and back of the photos. Functional object - Fare Token/s, Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB), 1920s
Demonstrates aspects of the Melbourne Tramways fare system as a comparison to their use at Ballarat.Fare tokens - 1 1/2d - 22mm diameter - dark brown celluloid - with words "Melbourne & Metropolitan" on circumference and "Tramways Board" in centre of token. On reverse in large font "1 1/2" and a small font "D" at to the right - indicating token had a value of one and a half pence. Both sides have a edge lining border about 1mm from the outer edge. Photo of a privately operated bus in Swanston St. Melbourne at the intersection of Bourke St., with Foys (Foy and Gibson) department store in the background. Bourke St. trams yet to be built. Photo taken 10-4-1950. Also has the Cosmopolitan Hotel in the background. From information provided by the Bus and Coach Society of Victoria: "The bus outside Foys belongs to Lew Page who was one of the multiple operators on Route 1 in 1950 ( he also had one bus on Route 2) which was four years before they amalgamated to form Melbourne - Brighton Bus Lines. The bus is a Reo with a Giles body. Giles Motor Body Works was based in New Street Brighton and built bodies for commercial vehicles but not a lot of buses. Their half a dozen post-war buses mainly went to operators in Routes 1 and 2. Being on Route 1, the bus would have been red and cream." Included as a features and photographs of yesteryear. 1. Frontispiece - 'Linton Express' stage coach 2. Back panel, photo of tram in S.E.Dickins store and horse cab in front of Town Hall 3. Small photo of ESCo tram at Lydiard St. and Sturt St. Corner 4. ? - Picor and Widmer moving stock across Bridge St. blocking tram to Victoria St. ca 1960. One Panel is Ballaarat song - taken from Ballaarat's Historic Committee - home to Ballarat Souvenir Program 1927, authors Reginald Stoneham & Will A. Bevan. These words along with associated tune is often sung to this day at gatherings of locals etc. Sponsors of pamphlet were 3BA, WIN TV, and The Courier. List of patrons on one panel.
