Document - Document - Correspondence, Ballarat School of Mines: Letter to Editor of Bendigo "Advertiser" from H E Arblaster, 14th November 1960
The School of Mines Ballarat began in 1870. It's location was the south end of Lydiard Street. Ballarat Junior Technical School began in 1913 and was boys only until 1951 when girls were included. They were under the control of the School of Mines Council. In 1967 the were three divisions. Each was internally distinguished. Ballarat School of Industries, Ballarat Technical School and Ballarat Institute of Advanced Education. In 1976 B.I.A.E. merged with State College of Victoria Ballarat - formerly Ballarat Teachers' College to become Ballarat College of Advanced Education, later to become Federation University. Letter written by H E Arblaster, Principal of Ballarat School of Mines, to The Editor, The Bendigo Advertiser. Letter refers to a letter written by Alec Craig's proposal for the development of a Bendigo School of Mines. This is a view Arblaster has held for some time.Single page, typed.HEA/BMH top right. This board honours a school's contribution to the annual Ballarat Girls School Association (B.G.S.A) athletics competitions. Clarendon Presbyterian Ladies' College won the accolade consistently from 1963 - 1970. paralleled the BPSA (Ballarat Public Schools Association) which morphed to become coed in the mid 70s, when College and Grammar became coed, retaining the BPSA acronym. In the 1930s, Hermann Busch constructed a concrete wall across Dandenong Creek, forming "Busch's Weir" on his Bayswater property, "Waldheim".
