Produced as a gift recording service to the MMTB Board as a Member - presented to Cr. Burnett Gray. Stamped at either end of the object with his name and "MMTB Member" Vic. Parliamentary Website gives details of Cr. Gray, Vic MP - though does not list being a MMTB Board Member. MP for St Kilda 1927 to 1932, Cr for St Kilda 1920 to 1948 - see http://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/re-member/details/1103-gray-alfred-charles-burnett. MMTB Annual Reports: Appointed 1936 (first appearance), until 1954, when the size of the Board was reduced - Order in Council 25/5/1954. The Annual Report for 1936 has a photo of all the Board Members and a listing. See images 1887i2 and i3. Australian Tramway Employees Association (Tramways Union) badge. Badge made of brass with words "Australian Tramway Employees Association" on outer edge of badge with a royal blue enamel background. In centre of badge has the Australian coat of arms with a railway type spoke wheel above the logo and underneath the coat of arms the words "Federated Australia" in a banner. The metal ring at the top of the badge has been torn. On back of badge has stamped into the badge "1580", indicating badge number. Used from South Melbourne depot in the time recording Bundy clocks that were located around the MMTB system. The key number related to the driver's shift number. The reference has details of the manufacturing of these clocks and the companies involved. .2 - as above, but for Kew Depot, No. 116. Model tram - B or B1, number 2002 made by The Met for their model tram at the Royal Show Melbourne c1985. Consists of: 1 - 2 x Fibreglass sections - one with a pantograph, painted in The Met colours with number 2002 with destination of "Special". Pantograph made from wire. 2 - small articulated section made from fibre glass and black vinyl, painted yellow and green. 3 - two sets of heavy duty electric motor, geared to two sets of four wheel bogies and one unmotorised bogie with a centre pins, washer and split pin that secured the articulated section of the tram. .1 - Set of 9 Tramway Union badges and other badges pinned to a piece of heavy blue cloth with sewn edges comprising 5 Public Transport Union (PTU) badges, three Australian Tramway and Motor Omnibus Employees Association (ATMOEA) badges, three The Met number lapel badges (Nos. 1121, 2416 and 3817), one RSL tie clip and one tie clip with a wheel inside a black background, with a "LEGA" .2 - AMTOEA badge in a plastic bag as would have been received by the member - brass back with pin clip on rear with blue surround and red around the state name. .3 - PTU badge in a plastic bag, brass, with clip missing, black surround, with red vehicles, green map of Australia and yellow around the map. Badge - brass with a gold finish, two triangles merged - stamped No. "114" and with raised writing "M&M Tramways Board" with a brass ring through the top of the badge, to allow it to be attached to a key ring. Issued to Members of State Parliament. On rear has remains of "Stokes and Sons Melb". Does not appear to have been used or received little use. Wooden Wax Sealing stamp - wood handle with a small brass stamp with the letters "R.Ty." and "I" or "1" underneath. See e-mail message from Andrew Cook dated 3-2-2019, Andrew advised "That is a wax seal (see attached image of a modern day one). You can still buy them to this day. I'm only guessing, but maybe the seal came from one of Melbourne's cable tram depots? 'R' could possibly stand for 'Richmond' or maybe 'Revenue'. Bell used by the conductor to signal to the driver to stop, proceed or an emergency stop. The flat leather strap indicates it was used on a cable tram, rather than an electric tramcar which were fitted with round leather cords. The leather strap is riveted to a round steel ring.Demonstrates a conductors communication or signal bell made for use on cable trams.Brass Conductor Communication Bell, or signal bell, consisting of cast frame, bell striker and bell pull part. Used to cancel or punch paper tickets when purchased. Placed lear shaped hole in the ticket. Based on the stamped number, used from South Melbourne Depot. This type of punch was phased out by the 1990s when conductors were removed from trams.Demonstrates an item used by the MMTB to cancel tickets. Rubber stamp - pocket stamp - opens up to give a rubber stamp (possibly initials or a number) with a small inking pad and stamp. Made from brass with metal pins and a small spring. Saved from a house in Nicholson Street, Nunawading owned by the Jenkinson's. Mrs Jenkinson died in Strathdon Nursing Home, Forest Hill and was buried on her 100th birthday. Plaque made in 1922.
