Photo of ESCo No. 8 - side on view of tram. Has Driver standing by front of tram, a person, possibly conductor standing by rear, though tram set up for one man operation. Good detailed side view of tram, showing arrangements of blinds, seats etc. Has "Suttons Pianos" advertisement on side and "Pictures Coliseum tonight" ad on the inside middle window. Tram has been converted to have windscreens. Three ladies on the front seat section of the tramcar. Date unknown. Post 1912. Tram still has magnetic brakes. The step section by the seats has not been covered over with sheet metal to prevent people standing on the steps, as shown in later photographs. Photo taken in Wendouree Parade with the Garden's Kiosk in the background. Walk Against Kennett at Lake Wendouree, 1994. (Jeffrey Kennett was the 43rd Premier of Victoria between 1992 and 1999.) Photograph is of several people. Norm Borchers is identified as standing on the right hand side, wearing the light coloured hat. Norm Borchers passed away in 2008. Borchers was a Club President of the Sebastopol Lions Club (1975-76). He worked for the railways as an engineering employee and was long-term trade unionist (Amalgamated Engineering Union and the Australian Railways Union) and ALP member; he lived and worked in the Ballarat area. Norm was active in workplace disputes during the ALP split in 1955. John Thwaites was Mayor of South Melbourne and subsequently served in the Victorian Parliament from 1992-2007, filling the position of Deputy Premier from 1999 – 2007. Steve Bracks was the 44th Premier of Victoria from 1999-2007. He was born in Ballarat. John Brumby was the 45th Premier of Victoria from 2007-2010. Robyn Mason was a member of the ALP and unsuccessfully contested the seat of Ballarat West in 1996. She was a feminist and a social worker who fought hard for those affected by sexual abuse and violence. As printed in Newsrail, April 1984 issue on page 111. Photo shows Yellow Express Mack prime mover GPU 328 with Ballarat Tram No. 25 loaded and leaving the depot. Tram has destination box removed.
