Entries in black ink & Date from Feb 1909 to 1920. Sticker inside front cover with Reference Number - No 154 - 11/9/1902 and the name of the printer Andrew Jack & Co.,347 and 349 Flinders Lane Melbourne. Book has a brown leather cover with a red sticker with gold printing and border and the name Ledger printed on it. Inside the front and back covers is a dark blue, lighter blue and red marble pattern. b. Deposit slip but from The National Bank of Australasia Limited, stamped Bendigo in purple for a deposit of £50 and signed S A Bush. The booklet was produced for the unveiling of the Captain Cook Statue on 7 December 1914 at the St. Kilda Foreshore. It contains details of Cook's life, the statue and the donor, Andrew Stenhouse, as well as of its unveiling. The statue was unveiled by the Governor of Victoria, Sir Arthur Stanley, watched on by Commonwealth and State dignitaries and hundreds of St Kilda residents. Keith Pither was born at Shepparton in 1914 and grew up on a farm. Attended Otira Methodist Home Mission Training College from 1936 and by 1939 was a probation minister at Burnie (Tas.). Enlisted in the army 1939 and served in the Middle East and Northern Australia. In 1943 he was ordained in the field as a chaplain and later served in New Guinea. Married Allison (Alison?) Brown in 1945 and they had four children, Brian, Rhonda, Andrew and Howard. Completed his studies at Melbourne University 1946. Rev. E. H. Chapple (1866 - 1956) was educated at the University of Melbourne, and was ordained a Wesleyan minister. He was admitted Presbyterian in 1904. Matte, black and white 3/4 studio portrait of Rev. Edward Henry Chapple who is standing and looking directly at the camera. He is dressed in an academic gown over his clerical suit and collar and is holding a rolled document in his left had. The photograph has a grey which has a gold border and a black and gold script inscription. The Lady Barbara Grimwade Costume Collection is comprised of Lady Barbara Grimwade's personal apparel and includes 145 pieces of clothing, 10 hats, 19 handbags, 66 pairs of shoes and assorted accessories of gloves, belts and scarves. In its breadth, this significant acquisition ranges from the mundane to the memorable, therefore giving a balanced representation of one person's taste. Following Lady Barbara Grimwade’s death in March 1990, Ararat Gallery formally accepted the generous gift of clothing and accessories donated by Lady Grimwade's son, Mr Angus K Grimwade, on 28 August 1991. Subsequent smaller donations in 1995 enhanced the collection. Lady Grimwade's Scottish forebears, the Gaerloch Campbells, first settled in Australia in 1861 in the Ararat-Beaufort district. Her great great grandfather, Mr Henry Campbell, died on the voyage to Australia. His widow, Jane, with 10 of her 13 children, farmed and grazed land, firstly at Stockyard Hill then at Fiery Creek, near Buangor, before leaving the shire in 1873. Lady Grimwade held a privileged position in Melbourne society. As the wife of Sir Andrew Grimwade, a prominent businessman, Chairman of several boards and a Trustee of various committees, Lady Grimwade met with royalty, heads of state, politicians, corporate directors, and horse and cattle breeders. 2Lt Andrew Crawford, a Tatura farmer, served six years with 7th and 15th Light Horse regiments prior to enlisting in 8th Light Horse AIF in WWI. He served at Gallipoli where he was wounded at The Nek, 7 August 1915, and later in Palestine. He reached the rank of Major by the end of the war. Following the war he served in 20th Light Horse CMF reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and commanded the regiment.Tunic worn by Second Lieutenant Andrew Crawford 7th Light Horse (VMR).
