Information in the "Linton - Sussex Street East Side (Title Searches)" file shows that Mrs Violet Annie Shepherd bought the property next to the garage in 1939.Black and white photograph which shows Bennett Bros service station (a brick building), next to Shepherd's "greengrocer and confectionery" store (a weatherboard building), in Sussex Street, Linton. Elizabeth Bennett (b. 1858), married William Todd (b. 1855) in 1882 and they had nine children. They were actively involved in the Linton community, particularly with the Church of England, where Mrs. Todd was organist for many years. They celebrated their Golden Wedding at Linton in 1932, by which time they were living in Ballarat.Scanned/modified copy of a photograph of the Todd family, believed to have been taken in Ballarat around 1905/1906. The ball was held in the Parish Hall in October 1947. This was the first debutante ball held in Linton after the end of World War II. Organisers were Mrs H. D. Elizabeth Bennett, the oldest child of William Garnsworthy Bennett and his wife Susan, née Williams, was born in 1858, and married William Todd on January 1st 1882. They had nine children, all born at Linton. Mrs. Todd was noted for her family, community and church involvements in Linton. William and Lizzie Todd celebrated their Golden Wedding in 1932.Enlarged black and white copy of original photograph which shows an older woman who is wearing a feather-trimmed hat, and a white lace scarf over a dark jacket or dress.
