Historical information
The youngest child of William and Elizabeth Todd (née Bennett), Stella was born in 1901. After leaving school in 1916, she worked as a milliner, and eventually became the proprietor of "Lucille" millinery in Ballarat. She married Geoffrey Surman in 1926.
Stella Surman returned to live in Linton in the 1960s, and was very active in church and community affairs. She purchased and lived in the original Bank of New South Wales building (Traquair House).
