Collection of newspaper articles and colour photo of Violee Davey, who was a student at Golden Square Laurel St. 1189. Violee was born on 10th June, 1906, to David and Margaret Davey, one of 16 ? Children. She was a volunteer at the Bendigo Easter Fair for 81 years. She received the Order of Australia Medal for services to community. Violee was the oldest living ex pupil at the 125h. Mr & Mrs Le Couteur were both employed in the Education Department. Frank was an Inspector of Schools and Frances taught at Canterbury Primary for 20 years and at Chatham Primary in 1927, the year the school opened. She loved music, attended the Salvation Army and taught music and at the Sunday School at their chapel in Guildford Road. She moved to Inala Village. Patrick Thomas Dunne was registered with the Education Department in 1949. The Bendigo Easter Fair features events throughout the City of Greater Bendigo and celebrations culminate in a parade through the streets on Easter Sunday. The parade features a variety of commercial and community groups. In 1892, large processional dragons became an integral part of the annual parade. The three principal golden dragons are Loong (1892–1970), Sun Loong (1970–2019) and Dai Gum Loong (2019–present), housed at the Golden Dragon Museum in Bendigo. The Bendigo Easter Fair Society is custodian of the Bendigo Easter Fair and continues to support the City of Greater Bendigo’s largest festival. An electric lamp in the shape of the Legacy Torch with an orange glass flame. It was dedicated in a church service at St Paul's Cathedral in October 1973 as part of the 50th Anniversary of Legacy celebrations. At the Jubilee dinner afterwards several copies were given out to Legacy branches as in photo number 00452 (copy attached).A record that the torch emblem is highly revered and celebrated by the commissioning of a unique piece for Legacy Clubs in the 1970s.Gold coloured torch symbol made into an electric lamp on a wooden base with an orange glass flame. Photos of the 50th Anniversary Dinner on 6 October 1973 held at Chaucers. It shows a table with Ivan Layton and Matron Vivian Bullwinkel. Ivan was the CEO of Legacy for 30 years. Matron Bullwinkel was a good friend of his. The wellness centre at Legacy House was named after Vivian Bullwinkel in 2020.
