The Golden Point - Mt Pleasant Progress Association was established on Wednesday 6 April 1983. Membership was open to any person or organisation in the area generally bounded by Bridge mall and Skipton Street, Elsworth Street and main Road. annual family or organisation membership was $2.00. Mara Gluyas served as secretary of the Golden Point - Mt Pleasant Progress Association from 1983 to 1994. Ian McKinnon was the President from 1983 to 1992.
