Regt No 2453 enlisted 7.7.1915 in 5th reinforcements 24th BN AIF, awarded Military Medal 20.9.1917 at Westhoeck, awarded Bar to the Military Medal 14.6.1918 at TREUX near Albert, both times as a Signaller repairing telephone lines under fire. The War Memorial was constructed in 1925 on Merri Street at the South side of Liebig St. It was constructed to commemorate the soldiers of WW1. It is constructed of red granite and the Angel is carved in marble.
