Poster, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), "Schedule of Fares and Charges - August 1966", Aug. 1966
Demonstrates an aspect of the SEC method of advising fares and sections to the travelling public. Also gave a small map that would have been useful to crews to explain to visitors where things were. Used in tramcars when trimmed. This poster made for the 1966 or second last fare increase. A similar arrangement used on Bendigo tramcars.Dyeline print of a drawing showing Ballarat Tramway (SEC) Fares, Charges, and Section Map. Also gives charges for Scholar's Monthly tickets, Luggage, Parcels, Newspapers and Chartered trams. Originally dated August 1965, amended August 1966. Note only shows decimal currency. Fares were applicable from 1/9/1966. Titled - "Schedule of Fares and Charges - August 1966" 2nd copy added 1/5/2001 - In good condition and images added as well. 3rd copy added 3-8-2006 - BTPS Cat. Original c 1914 (see below), facsimile copy - re-published 1972. Original features photos of Ballarat City and Town, its buildings, parks and the various industries and organisations that were in Ballarat at the time of publication, including ESCo. Many photos features ESCo trams. Photos sepia toned. Has some red colour block printing on the front cover and rear, for Star Oil Engines. On inside back cover is a map with the places of interest and tram route map, marked in red. Pages are un-numbered. Original published by Ballarat East Town Council and Ballaarat City Council. On cover has number stamped in black in, "No. 87" (assume facsimile copy No.). Photos with publication show tram No. 21, built 1913 and ESCo photo page shows Mr. Pringle as Manager. Mr Pringle became manager in January 1911, As there is no photos of the "Avenue of Honour", or other mention of the first world war, assume original published about 1913 or 1914. In foreground of photograph is a ESCo tram, without windscreens hauling a horse tram (east bound) and on the other side of Sturt St. a single ESCo tram. Many people walking the street. On top of photograph is the words "Town Hall and Sturt Street, Balla", the rest of the words having been cropped out. The trailer is one of the seven window horse trams. Black & White Photograph of one of the ESCo Toastracks being assembled in the Exhibition Buildings in Grenville St., north of the Alfred Hall in 1905. The other open Toastrack or Summer tramcar is behind this tram, with other California Combination cars on the sides. The trams have yet to be fitted with wheels or equipment, including headlights. Note the front dash panel has been painted, but no headlight opening or cut out. The print for this photograph made from a copy negative of page 454 of the Australasian, August 19, 1905 in 1993. Print includes caption (all in caps) "Summer Traffic Car: to be used in trips to and from the Gardens. It is without sides, and has reversible backs. Ballarat Electric Tram Service". See Reg. Functional Object - Bankcard plates and envelope, Milldean Press, 1970's mid
831.1 - Aluminium plate cut and stamped with the letters and words "467026 1 / BALLARAT TRAMWAY SO / BALLARAT VIC". Used by the BTPS/BTM in the ANZ Bankcard machine as the ID plate from the late 1970's to July 1998, when replaced by the Commonwealth Bank Machine. Plate salvaged for archive storage. Has two holes and cut outs for location onto machine. 831.2 - Plastic card -with words " ANZ BANK / MERCHANT SUMMARY CARD / CREDIT CARDS" and embossed onto cards is "561057 3011 467026 1 / BALLARAT TRAMWAY SOC / BALLARAT VIC". B&W print and scanned images of a coloured postcard lent to the BTM by Mr. Norm DePomeroy, Dec. 1997. Image is an ESCo tram just past the intersection of Doveton St. and Sturt St. travelling east along the north side of Sturt. Steet towing a heavily laden horse tram as a trailer. Photo appears to be taken soon after opening of the electric trams, as the tram does not have any destination box above the driver. Possibly summer 1905/1906. Numerous people in the street, some horse drawn vehicles in the photograph. Shows buildings along the south side of Sturt St. and part of the verandah of the building at the NE corner of Doveton St. 1 copy held at 8/98. Image is of a horse tram leave the Grenville St. terminus, to travel west bound along the north side of Sturt St. Has many pedestrians in photo and some horse drawn vehicles. Shows the position of the horse tram track in Sturt St., north side, was not up against the south side kerb. Postcard has a Christmas message on the base of it.
