Sword- Captain WH Panter
Of Leut W.H Panter, First Captain of H.M.V.S Cerberus and brought the ship from England to Port Phillip Bay in 1871. The sword was donated to the Ran College in the year 1934 by Miss Orr's Grandaughter. Provides details on a rescue conducted by a Royal Australian Navy Bristol Sycamore in southern Tasmania. Another Sycamore, "Yarrana" of Australian National Airways, made an emergency landing and its crew were recovered by the RAN Sycamore from Nowra, New South Wales. -

The Johnstone family were connected with the Craiglea Winery in Sunbury from 1864 to 1883. It was established by James Johnston, the father of Wilfred Henry. Charles Johnston took over the winery in 1885 and in 1897 he purchased 'Kignane'. A cousin ran Craiglea until 1905A photocopy taken from an older portrait of Wilfred Henry Johnston. Ditty Box, John Kidd's Ditty Box, c.1915-1930
There is a single record with the RAN for a John Kidd, who commenced service in 1909 and left in 1912. Kidd was born in 1885 in Sydney and his mother lived in Queenscliff. He served on the HMAS Parramatta from 1911-1912. There is no evidence of him having served on the HMAS Melbourne. Kidd served from 1911-1912 on the HMAS Parramatta, the first ship launched for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).A wooden box with mortise and tenon joins, brass fittings, circular handles, silver hinges and a name plate on the front. The box has a lift out section creating compartments. On the inside lid of the box is a postcard of the HMAS Melbourne surrounded by small rope decoration. A number of keepsakes are inside including a fidd for splicing ropes, a Capstan Wills tobacco tin, 3 postcards, a "Bengall Imperial" cut throat razor (T.R. Cadman & Sons, Sheffield England), black and white bakelite buttons with embossed crown and anchor and brass shank (either for war time or junior officers), gold naval buttons with embossed naval anchor and 2 piece shank (from a coat and cuffs), a bullet casing (Webley '45), a petty officers cloth badge (crossed anchors with a Crown), 4 shells, a good conduct badge (black with gold embroidery) and a red/brown vulcanized asbestos fibre fireproof dog- tag with rope attached."John Kidd" on front of box. HMAS Perth (D29), a modified Leander-class light cruiser. Commissioned into the Royal Navy as HMS Amphion in 1936, she was sold to the RAN three years later. The ship served until 1 March 1942, when she was sunk during the Battle of Sunda Strait. HMAS Perth (D 38), the lead ship of the Perth-class guided missile destroyers. Built as a Charles F. Adams-class destroyer derivative for the RAN and commissioned in 1965, the ship served until decommissioning in 1999. She was sunk as a dive wreck off the coast of Albany, Western Australia, in 2001. Long Gully is a suburb of Bendigo, 3 km north-west of the city's centre. The Long Gully Creek signifies the physical location of the suburb, and the Long Gully reefs ran southwards from Eaglehawk. It was particularly rich, realising yields as high as five ounces of gold to the ton.Four black and white photos of a painter's studio in Creeth Street, Long Gully, Bendigo. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the discovery of gold in Bendigo the Jubilee Exhibition ran from November 1901 to May 1902. It was opened on the 13th November 1901 by the Governor General Lord Hopetoun. Also in attendance was the Prime Minister Edmund Barton. The exhibition was promoted as far away as London.Souvenir jubilee exhibition handkerchief. Cream fine linen with ''Jubilee Exhibition'' embroidered with blue cotton and ''Bendigo 1851 - 1901'' embroidered in red cotton below a scene embroidered with yellow, green, fawn and blue cotton.
