A picnic organised on the first of January 1928 on the grounds of the Duckett family home, Riversdale in Hawthorn. (See Jottings 90, January 1928) Mr Duckett , an ironmaster and manufacturer. In 2017 a link with a Mrs Marjorie Duckett (nee Mclennan) in the late 20th C confirmed her role as secretary of the Altona Op Shop which provided funds to the Mission in the late 20th C. An image was also found in Ship to Shore newsletter of the MTSV.The Ducketts had links to the McLennan family also supporters of the Mission. Connections and memberships with both families identified in the records and Archive. Malcolm Cameron, came from Scotland to Australia with his wife in 1862. From late 1862 they lived in Bacchus Marsh and remained there for the rest of their lives. After working as a shepherd for sometime Malcolm Cameron was able to acquire land for a farm a few kilometers north west of Bacchus Marsh. The farm was called Glen View but this was later changed to Grand View. It is known to have been a wheat farm, Malcolm Cameron died aged 89 in 1922. His wife died in 1926. This image is one of a series of photographs taken by Melbourne based photographers Stevenson and McNicoll who visited Bacchus Marsh and its nearby districts between September and November 1883. The Presbyterian Manse was built about1858, when the lean-to residence at the rear of the Scotch Church in Main Street became too small for the family of the minister, Rev. A. McNicol. This photograph was taken during the ministry of Rev. J.M.Innes. The gentleman standing at the front of the manse appears to be wearing an ecclestiastical collar, and is possibly the Rev. Innes. The driver of the jinker also appears to be wearing a similar collar, and may be an assistant minister.Small sepia 'carte de viste' style unframed photograph on card with gold border framing photograph. This building was constructed by James Elijah Crook in 1865 as a residence for Doctor Bone. Between 1874 and 1890 it was in use as a Post Office. From around the 1920s F.C Pearce sold motor cars from this site for a number of years. The site is now occupied by the Bacchus Marsh Newsagency and Stationers located at 138 Main Street.Small sepia unframed photograph on card with gold border framing photograph. An early attempt to catalogue Legacy memorabilia which refers to 33 boxes of items split into subject matter such as 'History of Legacy', 'Finance Committee', 'Junior Legacy', 'Shrine', Group and Branch histories, and photograph albums. No indication of when it was compiled or by whom though it is presumed to be the Archive committee that was established by Frank Doolan who collected a lot of the items in the archive cabinets. Uses a rudimentary system of cataloguing e.g. 'H1. Inauguration of Remembrance Club. Box 1', where 'H' refers to History. 'S' refers to Shrine. Includes three loose typed and handwritten sheets listing films and tapes. A high number of History documents (H1 - H63) are filed in Box 25 - 01475 onwards. Believed to be from the archive project in the early 1970s by L/ Frank Doolan and L/ Brian Armstrong. This item appears to have catalogued at 00507 as well. George Langley, a teacher from Port Melbourne, embarked from Melbourne onboard HMAT Ulysses on 10th May 1915. Commanded the Australian units of the Imperial Camel Corps and later was CO of the 14th Light Horse. Returned to Australia in July 1919.
