Brass sign, engraved with the words "Entering or leaving this car from the Wrong side is prohibited. Maximum Penalty - Five Pounds" with four screw holes in each corner and a border. Has some scratching on the rear with possibly "711" scratched into the rear. Would appear to be a later version of Reg Item 6874. Gambling at Tram Depots was common and resulted in the loss of wages. See attached document with notes by Peter Bruce. The MMTB tried to restrict it, but it still took place. At the time this caused great concern amongst tramway museums. The problem was later resolved by the Bendigo Trust rebuilding a former scrapped Bendigo Birney tramcar No. 27, partly paid for by the Government for the Adelaide Museum. This tram, Adelaide MTT 1924 G-Type No. 303 is operational at the St Kilda Tramway Museum, Adelaide. Other museums did not receive their promised tramcars. Air Gauge - duplex type for tramcars with self lapping brakes - brass case, and back, with two needles - red and black - glass front, paper pressure indication. The red needle shows the pressure in the air-tank and the black needle, the pressure in the brake cylinder. Note the red needle is on the wrong side of the stop, possibly due to transport. Would have been used on a Melbourne or MMTB tramcar. Has the name "Horrocks Roxburgh Pty Ltd Melbourne" on the base and "J.A. Demonstrates how the SEC used enamel signs to convey instructions to passengers or to confirm the advice of the conductor and how enamel signs were made.Enamel sign, black capital letters and lines on an off-white background, titled "Entering or leaving this tram on the wrong side is prohibited". Demonstrates the signage used by the SEC (and the MMTB) to indicate tram stops and in particular compulsory tram stops. Has a strong association with the donor, Warrington Cameron.Piece of sheet steel folded to give an upstand or method of attachment to a pole, enamelled with red, white and black paint for use at tram stops.
