1330.1 - Approx 110m long section of a compressor armature end binding from the compressor of tram No. 40. The binding section consists of string which has been impregnated with insulating varnish. Located between the end of the armature and the commutator and retains the mica core. Small pieces of mica on the inside. Has a circular shape inherent from its use. - Not numbered. 1330.2 - approx. 25mm long section strip of red silicone tape with glass fibre reinforcement - 25mm wide with a plastic separation strip. Supplied by XLNT Enterprises - see fax on W.A.Doubleday files dated 5/1/2000. 1330.3 - as above, but two sections of this tape joined together as a sample. 1330.2 used to wrap the armature - two layers applied cut to be about 22mm wide instead of 25mm - repair done on 3/3/2000. Yields information about the accident that involved a tram hitting a tree after being derailed and amount of damage done at the time.Black and white photographic reproduction print of a photograph that appeared in The Age Newspaper on 3/12/1941 of an accident involving Ballarat Tram No. 24 running away following a collision in Drummond St. South and hitting a tree at the corner of Dana St. on 2/12/1941. Photograph has the heading and caption. Made in March 2000 by the State Library of Victoria from a copy of the newspaper held in their collection. A similar photograph also appeared in the Courier. Black and white photograph of W3 669 standing (appears to have just arrived) on the entry to Nos. 1 and 3 roads at Essendon depot. The tram has a run number (E48), is showing Essendon Depot. From shadows is late in the afternoon. Date of photo taken based on the series of photos received from the ARHS as being during Oct. and Dec. 1965. On Kodak paper. W3's were not based or attached to Essendon and would thus appear to be a visiting tram, but in service due to the presence of a run number.
