The postcard photograph shows PMTT No. 23 a Maximum Traction bogie, straight sill combination with drop end at the Malvern Burke Road terminus, c1916. See page 60 of Destination City 5th edition for details of the tram. Purchased by the Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust, sold to the Hawthorn Tramways Trust during 1916, in 1920 absorbed by the MMTB and classed "O". They were sold to Adelaide in 1927. There is a large "1" in the front window, indicating the route number and the destination of Burke Road. Photograph shows a decorated trailer apparently being towed by a tractor with large rear wheels. The trailer is numbered 15 and decorated with multiple flowers and bushes. Sitting above the flowers is a large replica of a conductor's coin bag and ticket wallet and a large replica of the M&MTB insignia. The bag carries signage "The Bag of Service" and the blocks of tickets carry dates 1951 and 1954 with signage "Day and Night Service". Around the sides of the trailer are the words "Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board". The number being the principal identification number for the public and Inspectors.Demonstrates uniform cap manufacture.Drivers/Conductors cap - navy blue cloth exterior, black cotton interior lining, with a plastic band at the front half of the cap terminating in two small MMTB metal buttons on either side, and black (green underside) plastic beak.
