Provides separate sections of rules for Gripmen and Conductors, with Special rules for both roles, collection of fares and use of Bell Punch, transfer and check tickets, Collectors (Conductors acting as collectors on the dummy or grip car), signalmen and shunters. Date of issue has been damaged by silverfish - Mr H A Wilcox was appointed Secretary in 1909, becoming General Manager in the Tramway Board which succeeded the private company in 1916. Rule 76, page 21 allows for the wearing of the Australian Tramway Employees Association union badge. The Union was recognised by the Company in August 1912 and the wearing of Union badges on watch chains was permitted. A possible date for the document is 1912. Sports Clubs in Kew in the final decades of the 19th century and in the early 20th century were often umbrella organisations with facilities for a number of sports. Typically in Kew, this included teams in lawn bowls, tennis and croquet. The Kew Bowling Club was formed in 1880 while the privately owned Auburn Heights Recreation Club was opened in 1904. By 1998, the two Clubs decided to amalgamate at the Auburn Heights site in Barkers Road, forming the Kew Heights Sports Club. The combined club was itself taken over by the Melbourne Cricket Club in 2012 becoming MCC Kew Sports Club. In 2017 MCC Kew closed and its landholding was subsequently sold to Carey Baptist Grammar School. Both the Kew and Auburn Heights Clubs assembled important collections. These historically significant and large collections were donated to the Society in 2020. The conductor is adorned with his safety pins and trip slips, that he would punch a hole in when he sold or collected a fare. The bell punch in the conductor's right hand would sound a bell to indicate the fare had been collected. Some decades ago a card sorting set for the identification and description of Australian timbers was developed for timber species which were available commercially and were in common usage, by the Commonwealth of Australia (CSIRO, Division of Forest Products) To complement and inform this national timber set each State or Territory developed reference timber sets of representative species. The Commercial Timbers of Victoria set was Victoria’s most recent (circa 1984) expression of this Victorian timber samples were sourced from logs selected by Forest Commission of Victoria (FCV) District Foresters and milled locally. Kiln drying and machining was carried out at timber producers Row, Web and Anderson, in Port Melbourne.
