In 1964, Robin and Patricia Boyd spent several weeks on a world tour - Boyd took a leading role at the International Design Conference in Aspen and he also visited Chicago, Yale University, and New York’s World Fair. Found at Wet Flat ("Chinaman's Flat") near Linton, an area once occupied by many Chinese miners. This object was once thought to have been the lid of a container (possibly one used for storing snuff) and it is sometimes referred to as the "Chinese tin lid".Small, flat, rectangular piece of metal on which Chinese characters have been inscribed. It is understood that the fragment may once have been part of a container used to store tea leaves or spices. Three characters are inscribed, the top one is indecipherable due to wear, the middle one denotes a place (Candong province in China), the third denotes a successful business.containers, chinese miners, wet flat

Murray Comrie Collection. Copy of an 1866 photograph by Aimé Marchand. Thomas Comrie's Exchange Store was at south end of Commercial Road, it has since been destroyed. In June 1866, Aimé Marchand (1846-1910) made a series of fourteen photographs which were submitted to the 1866-67 Melbourne Intercolonial Exhibition, where they earned a 1st Class Honorable Mention. This is one of those fourteen images. Of French or Belgian origin and possibly formerly an assayer in California, Marchand appears to have begun his practice of photography in Tarnagulla around 1865 as an assistant to A.B. Clay. By the following year he had settled in Portland, where he opened the Royal Photographic Studio in Gawler Street. From his base in Portland he toured surrounding districts, offering portrait and view services. Little else is known about his life. He appears to have left Australia in 1878. A misprint of his name in a local directory as Annie Marchand created the misconception that he was one of only a few named women photographers in the colonies. Part of the 'Mann' collection, used for time keeping by employees in the J. Mann & Sons General Store in Wodonga High Street in the c 1960s. J. Mann and Sons was first established as a farm produce store in 1921. The range of products was extended in the 1930s and included groceries and hardware, as well as the first petrol bowser in Wodonga outside the store. After WWII, the premises were extended and the range of products continued to increase. In the 1960s the Mann Family opened a new supermarket in Wodonga, in addition to the hardware business, providing steel, plumbing and industrial supplies, and they employed over 100 people at one stage. With changes in the retail industry, the Mann Family sold the main hardware business to Bunnings and the steel and rural produce business to the Kelly brothers in 2006.The Amano time clock has local significance due to its use in the J. Mann & Sons General Store in High St, Wodonga and the association with the prominent Mann family.Green metal electronic Amano time clock used by employees in the J.
