A report by the Future Requirements Committee dated 11 October 1978. The Committee members were(Chairman): I.W. Anderson, E. Cohen, A.N. Kemsley, L.D. King, J.M. Poulton, R.L. Simmons The Committee notes that its recommendations would probably be resisted by some Legatees but were necessary to meet the changing needs of dependants. They highlighted cancelling the supply of firewood, cessation in 1978 of the Badge Day appeal in Melbourne and the special Christmas promotion, and the Christmas Garden Party at Government House. Boys and Girls classes to be phased out, and Blamey House and Stanhope residences to be closed in 1979-80, with dental care to cease in 1980. A Junior Legacy Certificate presented to Jacobina Bristol on 12 July 1940. The text says 'During the Great War many men offered themselves for Service in the Forces of the Empire. To assist the children of those who fell, or who have died since, the Melbourne Legacy Club was formed. The Children of deceased sailors and soldiers constitute the Junior Legacy Club.' The certificate was donated back to Legacy from the family of Marjorie and Jacobina (Jackie) Bristol, sisters who were both junior legatees in the 1930s and 1940s after their father passed away, he was a World War 1 veteran. Jacobina later became Jackie Wood and passed away in April 2020. Marjorie became Marjorie Bachmann and passed away in 1986. Also donated were a photo of the girls at calisthenics classes, a girls green tunic uniform, a souvenir handkerchief from the 90th anniversary celebrations and a $100 Legacy badge. They camped at the Wangaratta Showgrounds, where they trained until they marched out of Wangaratta on 28th September 1940. Ski-Horizon is the official journal of the Federation of Victorian Ski Clubs which began publication in 1949. The were 26 original member clubs which included Albury Ski Club, Bogong Ski Club, Myrtleford Ski Club, Tallangatta and District Ski Club and Wangaratta Ski Club. Two pioneers of Falls Creek, Tom Mitchell, M.L.A., and Martin Romuld were Vice-Presidents of the Federation.This Journal is significant because it documents the early development of skiing in Victoria.The journal features stories and events chronicling developments in Victoria and internationally. The Tarnagulla and District Cricket Association existed for quite a few years in the 1890 -1920 period, and consisted of 6 to 8 clubs drawn from a radius of about 15 km. Tarnagulla Club finished on top of the ladder in the 1910/1911 season, and the club then won the grand final against Llanelly in April 1911. The trophy was presented to Edward Toole at the Club's annual presentation evening in December 1911. Mr Toole was the publican at the Golden Age Hotel at Tarnagulla for many years, and he was also a long-­time president and strong supporter of the Tarnagulla Cricket Club. Mr Toole was unwell at that time, and the club's supporters decided to present it to him in recognition of his many years of service. N. Butcher resided at Llanelly and was a very keen local cricket lover. He donated this trophy for the 1910/11 season. The hallmark 'SD&Co' probably indicates the cup was made by Stewart Dawson & Co. which had Australian operations in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane. David Gordon Collection. This is an invitation to the Orbost Football Club's Grand Final Dinner, held at the Mechanics' Institute Hall on Monday 12th October, 1953. The Orbost football club players were known as the Busters and wore green and gold guernseys. An Orbost football team has participated in the East Gippsland League since the early 20th century. In 2003 in response to a dwindling population, the Snowy Rovers and Orbost Football Clubs were driven to merge into the Orbost Snowy RoversFootball clubs, through their many changes, have always been an important social fabric of the community. Sports Clubs in Kew in the final decades of the 19th century and in the early 20th century were often umbrella organisations with facilities for a number of sports. Typically in Kew, this included teams in lawn bowls, tennis and croquet. The Kew Bowling Club was formed in 1880 while the privately owned Auburn Heights Recreation Club was opened in 1904. By 1998, the two Clubs decided to amalgamate at the Auburn Heights site in Barkers Road, forming the Kew Heights Sports Club. The combined club was itself taken over by the Melbourne Cricket Club in 2012 becoming MCC Kew Sports Club. In 2017 MCC Kew closed and its landholding was subsequently sold to Carey Baptist Grammar School. Both the Kew and Auburn Heights Clubs assembled important collections. These historically significant and large collections were donated to the Society in 2020.
