Yields information about Moorabool Street Geelong, colour publicity photograph, summer clothing and the street scape during the early 1950's. Has a strong association with a commercial collection - Candy footwear.Colour print of a colour photograph held by the Candy Footwear collection (two slightly different prints) and a black and white version, of No. 31 in Moorabool Street, with the destination of BEACH, at the corner of Malop St, 1948. Has a number of people joining and leaving the tram, and walking across to the footpath. Also a number of bicycles in the photograph. People are wearing summer clothes. Printed on Agfa paper. In the background is the T&G building, Rockman's, Savoia Cafe, and Hitchcocks (?) Pty Ltd building. In an envelope that contained the photographs (now with the worksheet) is "pics and negatives for Geelong 31 / copy Candy Footwear framed illustration." Two strips of three negatives in the negatives folder - page 58.In hand writing on the rear " (6) " Car in Moorabool St at the cnr with Malop St en-route to Beach." Demonstrates timetable making.Thirty two page, white paper, saddle stapled booklet, titled "Electricity Supply Department - Ballarat Tramways - Official Time Table August 1937", Gives notes on the through routing of the tram service, how the clock style format works and that it operates from the Tramway Centre. Also details when extra services are run and times as specific points along the route. Page 29 detail the fares and charges, page 30 - luggage, page 28 gives travel information and rear cover advertises electricity usage. Bound register containing details of employees and applications for employment with the Electric Supply Company Tramways. Book contains handwritten notes including name, address, referees, comments, employment history, wage increases, etc. The book is in poor condition with many of the pages loose, and some very dog-eared. Handwriting in many cases is difficult to read. Entries date from 1909 through to 1930's. Peter Waugh advised that currently (2013-2014) the information is being copied to a spreadsheet. Pages were placed in correct order December 2013 after extensive research and cross checking. Document - Letter/s, Wal Jack, Wal Jack to John Southern
Letters hand written by Jack, concerning primarily his observations of steam locomotives and trains in the Ballarat area, with some references to his health, trams, replacement of steam locomotives by diesels (which he did not like). John Southern lived in NSW and was a well known collector of information and photographer on Australian steam locomotives; wrote articles for the ARHS Bulletin and other publications. On first letter, Wal notes he was involved in an industrial accident at the Ballarat Gun Cotton factory in 1943 which severely affected his health.
