Displayed in History House. The moustache cup (or mustache cup) is a drinking cup with a semicircular ledge inside. The ledge, called a moustache guard, has a half moon-shaped opening to allow the passage of liquids and serves as a guard to keep moustaches dry. City of Portland. The Portland Lifeboat was used in the rescue of survivors from the Admella shipwreck. It is also unique in its design having been based on a winning design from the RNLI in the UK and then adapted for Australian conditions. The Lifeboat is registered on the Victorian State Heritage Register.Wooden boat and cradle. Blue gunwales, rowers seats, and canvas buoyancy covers, white hull, grey under water line. White topsides. The Ancient Order of Foresters, which originated in England in the mid 1700s, established its first branch (Court) in Victoria in 1849. Foresters was set up as a non-profit organisation, the founding principles of the Society being to provide financial and social benefits as well as support to members and their families in times of unemployment, sickness, death, disability and old age. The Society is now known as the Foresters Friendly Society and in July 1999 was incorporated as a public company limited by shares and guarantee.Letter of apology for non-attendance at a meeting for Ancient Order of Foresters Society. Broken silver loop on top. Inverse: Detailed scene of a manned rowboat being launched to rescue a foundering ship. On horizon line are two ships with smoke stacks. A large banner and anchor design in the sky bears the words "Hope to the Last". Obverse: Laurel wreath and a braid motif encircle the central text.
