This memorial was erected by the residents of Apollo Bay and District in 1922.Colour photograph of the War Memorial at Apollo Bay, that features a scuplture of an Australian soldier with slouch hat and holding a rifle. It includes a list of those who served during World War One and World War Two. A characteristic figurative monument, the memorial comprises a single standing soldier, looking down the main street, a top a polished granite pedestal with honour roll set on a huge rock faced granite block.The memorial is fenced by heavy set square concrete bollards supporting heavy gauge chain between each. tBuilt by J. Wilson & Co. of Bendigo, the Apollo Bay Memorial depicts the lone soldier, a typical symbol of the sentiments of communities who had lost faith in heroism and had learnt to recognise the level of loss caused by war amongst ordinary volunteers. Fast Forward was an audio-cassette based music magazine conceived and edited by Bruce Milne and Andrew Maine. Both had music programs on radio station 3RRR and Milne ran the successful independent record label Au Go Go Records. Michael Trudgeon joined them as the designer for the magazine. Each issue comprised a cassette tape interspersed with music and was packaged with printed artwork. The magazine was distributed in record shops for $3.50. Thirteen issues were produced between November 1980 and October 1982. Regular contributors included Jeff Holland, who created elaborate sound collages which were combined with elaborate illustrations in the booklet that accompanied the audio cassette. Many ground breaking Australian bands were first published on Fast Forward tapes including Hunters and Collectors. An international audience was first exposed to music from Australian bands including Laughing Clowns, the Go-Betweens, Rowland Howard’s ‘Shivers’ as performed by The Young Charlatans, The Scientists, the M Squared label, Dead Can Dance and Pel Mel’s ‘No Word from China’ recorded as a ‘demo’. Fast Forward was the world’s first audio-cassette music magazine. As the magazine’s presence and reputation grew, international acts began to submit material for publication including The Cure. This letter from the Assistant Editor, Evan Williams, confirms the arrangement that Robin Boyd will write a piece for The Sunday Australian every fortnight, starting with the first edition on 28 February, 1971. It also states that the book 'Experimental Architecture' (Peter Cook, 1970) is being sent to Boyd and they would be glad of his review. Photos of the launch of Legacy Week in 1991. The guest speaker was Sir Zelman Cowan, a former Governor General of Australia. The launch was in the Crest International Hotel in St Kilda on 3 September 1991. Sir Zelman spoke movingly on the work of Legacy and on the dramatic world events: the Gulf War; the reunification of Germany; the changes within the Soviet Union and his speech was warmly received by all who attended. The speaker and head table are under the Legacy Banner - which says "Legacy Caring for Australia's Biggest Family". The same banner is used at an event in Melbourne City Square - see 000491 (from the same roll of film). Souvenir Teaspoon featuring Ballarat tram No. 33 in a Square inset at the top of the tea spoon, contained within a plastic case. The teaspoon made by Perfection Plate, of the Galaxy style or type. The teaspoon made by Perfection Plate, of the Caprice style or type. The case is clear plastic, hinged on the left hand side, with a clip on the right hand side and wrapped in plastic. Inside and on top of the case for display purposes is a folded sheet of cardboard, printed with a decorative design on the spoon side and a short item about Australia - the island continent. On the base of the item is details of the manufacturer, and web site. The teaspoon is silver plated, with the tram in a picture 22mm round. Tea spoon is 116mm long x 25mm wide.
