Chris. Christiansen was the photographer in Sunbury from 1892 to 1916. St. Andrew's Church in Sunbury have organised an annual flower show for many years and it is held in the Sunbury Memorial Hall.A black and white photo of a flower show mounted on a cream frame. Flowers and wreaths are displayed on two raised shelves along the wall on the RHS and there are palm leaves in the foreground. There is another display across the back wall. The Leicester Guildhall is adjacent to Leicester Cathedral where King Richard III has been reinterred. The interpretative centre nearby is situated upon the car park where his remains were uncovered. The Great Hall was built in 1390 and dates back to medieval days. It was a meeting place for the Guild of Corpus Christi, a select group of influential businessmen and gentry founded in 1343. An electric lamp in the shape of the Legacy Torch with an orange glass flame. It was dedicated in a church service at St Paul's Cathedral in October 1973 as part of the 50th Anniversary of Legacy celebrations. At the Jubilee dinner afterwards several copies were given out to Legacy branches as in photo number 00452 (copy attached).A record that the torch emblem is highly revered and celebrated by the commissioning of a unique piece for Legacy Clubs in the 1970s.Gold coloured torch symbol made into an electric lamp on a wooden base with an orange glass flame. Frank Wright was a renown resident of Smeaton, where he was born in 1901. He lived at Laura Villa, and attended Smeaton State School. His father William was a gold miner and his mother's name was Sarah. He was the youngest of eleven children. Their family won many singing and instrumental awards. Frank was tutored by Percy Code and was awarded a gold medal for the highest marks in the ALCM examinations in the British Colonies at the age of seventeen years. He became the Australian Open Cornet Champion by the age of eighteen. A year later, Frank conducted the City of Ballarat Band, and later the Ballarat Soldiers’ Memorial Band. He formed the Frank Wright Frisco Band and Frank Wright and his Coliseum Orchestra. These bands won many South Street awards, and Frank as conductor won many awards in the Australian Band Championship contest. In 1933 Frank Wright sailed to England to conduct the famous St Hilda’s Band and was appointed in 1934 as the Musical Director of the London County Council (the GLC or Greater London Council), where he organized many amazing concerts in most of the 150 parks, in and around the London district. He was also responsible for some of London’s major concerts at Kenwood, the Crystal Palace and Holland Park. He was made Professor of Brass and Military Band Scoring and Conducting and was a Fellow of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Frank was often invited to adjudicate Brass Band Championships around Europe, in Australia, including South Street and in New Zealand. Frank was awarded an M.B.E. in 1967 and he died in November 1970. The Frank Wright Medal at the Royal South Street competition is awarded to an individual recognized as making an outstanding contribution to brass music in Australia.1). This is a photograph of a group of people dressed up in traditional Japanese costumes for a Church of England bazaar and fete C 1900. in the late 19th and early 20th centuries Churches in Orbost provided venues for social activities, fellowship and entertainment. Many concerts, festivals and money-raising fetes were held by the church committees. St. James' Anglican Church, Orbost, was conceived and built as a memorial to the men 'who served and suffered during the Great War' as noted on the foundation stone. St. David's Presbyterian Church Parkdale was constructed as an all-purpose hall on three blocks of land at the corner of Evan and McSwain Streets, Parkdale that had been purchased by the Home Mission Department. The hall was opened and dedicated by Rev. Paul Baker on February 11th 1962. The church was named the North Mordialloc Presbyterian Church at this time. The hall was extended in 1966, and in 1973 the church was re-named St. David's Parkdale. In 1977 St. David's became part of the Mordialloc-Parkdale Uniting Church Parish which comprised the former Mordialloc and Parkdale Methodist churches and St. David's Parkdale Presbyterian Church. The last service was held on 6th November 2011, and funds raised from the sale of the buildings were used to renovate the Parkdale Uniting Church. St Nichols' National School, Limerick, Ireland, is near the Adare Church, built on the grounds of good land beside a river where three groups of monks made their home during the Middle Ages. The Church was formerly the Black Friar's Abbey. The monastery was founded by John, Earl of Kildare, in 1315. The name of the old parish church was St Niholas where the school derived its name. On 2 June 1808 the local vestry meeting of the Church decided to abandon the old parish church of St Nicholas, the ruins of which are on the Estate, and the old Black Abbey was restores. The remains of the monasteries of all three orders of monks are in relatively good order still (considering their age) and two of them have been restores for worship. The first is the Trinitarian Abbey, otherwise known as the White Abbey, which is in the centre of the village of Adare. This was once the mother-house of a small influential order which had as its main object the ransoming and redeeming of Christian captives from the Moslems. The second is the ruin of the Franciscan Abbey in the demesne, beside the gold course. The third is the Augustinian Priory or the Black Friars' Abbey founded in 1315 by John, Earl of Kildare.
