The caption of the photo says 'Executive Officers of Legacy, Mrs Judith Saxon, Mrs Edith Upton and Mr Ivan Layton, were busy yesterday preparing badges and tins for the street appeal which will be held on Friday as part of Legacy week.' Behind them is a poster with the slogan 'Help Legacy' with an image of a Legacy Boy that was printed as a brochure in 1960 with the slogan 'The Legacy Boy, worthy son of a worthy father.' The article was cut from the newspaper and pasted into a scrap book of press clippings. The collection has been catalogued into a number of Series. The main series are Series 1: Main Photographic Series; Series 2: Main Transparency Series; and Series 3: Brochures and Published materials. Every Item in each of these major Series has been individually catalogued on a spreadsheet, one spreadsheet per Series. A further 70 Series have been created to catalogue smaller, discrete collections of photographs and negatives and other memorabilia including registers, published materials and objects. The completion of its transfer to the Society was noted in Newsletter No. 159 November 2004. Generally memorabilia items classified as part of Council 's art collection and negatives of historical photographs have been retained by the Council. The items now stored at our Local History Centre are quite diverse. They include many photographs of Council activities, Councillors and Council staff. There are Council brochures, calendars and other publications. All of these items are catalogued and stored in quality archival boxes. Also included is a large collection of old Council registers such as letter books, contract registers, cash books, etc. Many of these are large leather bound volumes, more of interest for their appearance than for their content. The first meeting of the Memorabilia Reference Group was held December 5, 1996. The aim of the group was to facilitate all actions required for the safekeeping of the Shire of Eltham memorabilia. A brochure issued by the National War Memorial Committee of Victoria to inform the public about the plans for the Shrine of Remembrance and how they could contribute towards its cost. The Governor of Victoria points out that the need to remember, as 'To forget is to be false to the men who fell, to the cause for which they fell, and to ourselves. Let the whole people join in creating such a Monument as will keep the Names and Memories of the men fresh in the minds of our children's children.' The brochure mentions that the cost of the Shrine was estimated to be £180,000. Of this £80,000 was guaranteed and the remaining £100,000 needed to be raised. It shows that each contribution will be recorded within the crypt as one of those who gave the Memorial to the Nation. It also states 'Each contribution honours our men, redeems our promise that they shall never be forgotten, and helps in presenting to the nation a durable foundation to traditions of patriotism and self-sacrifice, and in the immediate future assists hundreds of worthy returned soldiers who, as a result of the temporary trade depression, are in need of employment. Actually, seven-tenths of the total cost of the Memorial will be expended in wages...' A sample of the type of receipt given to record donations is on page 3. An actual receipt is at 01207. Attunga Ski Lodge was built by Bob and Noelene Lee in 1968. They had managed club and commercial lodges, including Ripparoo, throughout the early 60s before building their own premises. Three generations of the family have lived and worked in Falls Creek. As stated in this brochure, Attunga derives from the aboriginal word meaning High Place. Attunga was the first lodge in Falls Creek to have en suite rooms. It has continued to be a family-run and focused business, being purchased in 2016 by the Wruck family. Bob and Noelene Lee's son, Steven, became a three-time Olympian (in 1984, 1988 and 1992) and a World Cup winner.
