Five of a collection of slides donated by Laurie Dixon. Water was pumped from Candowie Reservoir to nearby Almurta Basin and gravity fed to Wimbledon Heights Storage Basin. These open water basins were two main components of the water distribution of the day and supplied the area from 1964 to 1989. The Almurta and Wimbledon Heights Storage Basins were decommissioned in 1999 when the San Remo Basin was improved an now is the vital link in the transfer of water from Candowie via the Purification Plant.Five of a collection of slides taken by Laurie Dixon. These coins are examples of Australian decimal currency coins in 1970 and 1971. Decimal currency was introduced into Australia in 1966 with 50 cents, 20 cents, 10 cents, five cents, two cents and one cent coins issued at that time. The images of Australian animals and birds on one side of the coins were designed by Stuart Devlin. The one and two cent coins were discontinued in the 1980s and $1 and $2 coins were introduced in 1991.These coins are retained as examples of Australian decimal currency coins in the 1970s. In 2018, excavations in the vicinity of Flinders Street Railway Station uncovered about 300 aboriginal artefacts which indicated that the site was used for corroborees and other celebrations. This map has been owned by the Ryder Family of the Kiewa Valley for possibly over 100 years (1905?). It was used when the family mustered and maintained cattle on their grazing lease on the Bogong High Plains. Obviously a field map used on these occasions.This map was used by the Ryder Family who lived in the Kiewa Valley and who grazed cattle on their lease on the Bogong High Plains during summer.Showing reserves Under the Forest Act of 1907. This is a paper map which has been mounted or glued on pink and cream floral cotton. It is obvious by its poor condition that it has been used outdoors in the field.
