In early 2003 bush fires covered much of North East Victoria. Submissions were requested by the 'House Select Committee' for comment on various aspects of the fire in order to help prevent bush fires in the future.Simon Paton is a local resident of the Kiewa Valley where the bush fires occurred. His report includes other residents statements on various aspects of the fire and its prevention and impact on the local area. Bound register containing details of employees and applications for employment with the Electric Supply Company Tramways. Book contains handwritten notes including name, address, referees, comments, employment history, wage increases, etc. The book is in poor condition with many of the pages loose, and some very dog-eared. Handwriting in many cases is difficult to read. Entries date from 1909 through to 1930's. Peter Waugh advised that currently (2013-2014) the information is being copied to a spreadsheet. Pages were placed in correct order December 2013 after extensive research and cross checking. The Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes is an organisation that started in 1822 in the United Kingdom. It aids members, their families, dependents of former members and other charitable organisations. Membership is open to all males over the age of 18 years. The R.A.O.B. had lodges in the Kiewa Valley including Rocky Valley, Kiewa and in Tawonga as well as in nearby towns indicating that it was a popular organisation at the time. Lodge Officers are listed on each card.8 Cardboard R.A.O.B., G.A.B. Cards folded in half each with an emblem on the centre front and all with a date of meeting at the bottom. Sisters from St Joseph's Convent at 1 Kent Road, Surrey Hills taught at Our Holy Redeemer School in Mont Albert Road from 1902-1967. Formally known as Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, they were often called the Josephites or 'Brown Joeys' on account of their brown habits. The order was founded by Saint Mary MacKillop (1842–1909). The order originally transferred to Surrey Hills from South Melbourne where they ran a Home for Destitute Children. The last 3 sisters from Surrey Hills transferred to the Gisborne parish in December 1967. Found in the National Wool Museum, may have been used in the wool brokers office display. Although it is unclear, we believe it may be the original wool broker ledger for one of the agents working out of the Dennys Lascelles building. Ledger contains an alphabetic list (by surname) of all wool growers who sold through this agent/broker, including name, number of bales/fadges/sacks, property address, bale stencil used, stock agent rebate and date of arrival. There is also a list of new clients on the back pages.Cloth-covered cardboard front and back cover ledger. Cover is a pale brown with green spine. White sticker on front cover indicates the year of the ledger. Ledger contains lined pages with heading, below which is hand-written text in pen and pencil, listing names and associated details in alphabetical order. -

Programme of a Legacy Demonstration at the Melbourne Town Hall in October 1950. Throughout the year Melbourne Legacy provided classes for Junior Legatees such as dancing, gymnastics and eurythmics, the Demonstration was an annual event to showcase their skills. Melbourne Legacy conducted Annual Demonstrations / Parades from 1928 through to 1979, usually held at Melbourne Town Hall or Olympic Pool Stadium. The beautiful costumes were made by members of the Junior Legacy Mothers' Club and the Melbourne Legacy Wives' Association.
