Black and White photo on a brown cardboard mount, showing a large group of men (about 30) and children (about 6) in front of and on the wooden frame of the partially constructed Belgrave Catholic Church Hall, Austral Hall, corner of (now) Reynolds Lane & Burwood Highway. The men are dressed in various combinations of hats, ties, shirts, jackets, trousers and work aprons. Some have tool belts or are holding hammers and other tools. Two small girls are seated on their fathers' laps. A man is sitting on his haunches at the front. He is wearing a suit and loose bow tie and holding a hat. He appears to be an official. Another man is patting or holding a dog. The building seems to have two walls partially constructed. There are trees visible in the background which are on the high side of the main road of Belgrave. A moulded brown cardboard mount measures 24.7 X 20.00. On the reverse side is written in pencil, 'Building Church hall/ at/ Belgrave/ Saturday 11th Dec 1920.' There is a stamped business name which reads 'Watson's/ photos/ Belgrave.' The Hall was built by largely volunteer labour as the Austral Hall, financed largely by Harry Luscombe's dances and functions. The land was donated by the Buckley Family. On the reverse side is written in pencil, 'Building Church hall/ at/ Belgrave/ Saturday 11th Dec 1920.' There is a stamped business name which reads 'Watson's/ photos/ Belgrave.' -

Photograph of all the original Officers and men of the 11th. Battalion 3rd Brigade AIF. The group of over 685 soldiers are spread out over the side of the Great Pyramid of Khufu Cheops near Mina Camp.Framed colourised version of Original photograph titled ANZAC with inscribed plate describing the Scene. Inscribed Plate reads - "The 11th Battalion, Australian Infantry Force was raised at Black Boy Hill in Western Australia on 17th August 1914. Following a period of training of just two weeks, the Battalion embarked at Freemantle on the HMAT Ascanius on 2nd November 1914. The Ascanius formed part of a convoy of 38 Troopships carrying approximately 35,000 Australian and New Zealand troops and reached the Port of Alexandria Egypt on 2nd December 1914. After arriving in Egypt, the Battalion camped and trained at Mena, ten miles from Cairo, at the foot of the Great Pyramid Cheops. On 10th January 1915, prior to leaving Egypt a photograph of more than 800 original Officers and Men of the Battalion was taken at the Great Pyramid of Cheops on the 28th February 1915." -

This diorama is the introductory feature in the World War 1 Gallery - 1918 experience. The figure shows details of the Lewis gun and webbing including the documented but irregular positioning of the entrenching tool.The diorama text discusses the transition from manpower to firepower with the restructure of infantry battalions to incorporate more light machine guns and to give the platoon an all round versus specialist capability. The increase in firepower and the reduction to three from four battalions in an infantry regiment in part offset the decline in voluntary recruitment. This program was given to attendees at the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra and Gisborne Singers performance on 11 December 2022. An initiative of Luke Severn, Artistic Director of the Gisborne Singers and the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra, Symphonia Choralis is a new biennial choral festival conceived to give singers the chance to perform large scale choral works with full orchestra. The festival is also designed to bring choirs together to practise and perform, to share ideas and to connect over their common love of choral music. Letter addressed to D. McClure, M.L.A., June 11th, 1980 from Western Mining Corporation Limted. Letter outlines the plan to 'use a commercial elevator rather than a winding system for placing tourists into the underground exhibition'. Western Mining Corporation intended to make a donation to fund this venture but 'the money involved is rather more than we had in mind'. The original quote was $45,000 but is going to be in the range of $200,000 to $300,000. A two page file note on a telephone conversation between Daryl McClure and J.O.
