St James Old Cathedral
Cathedral Building, St James Old Cathedral, 09/11/1839
St James Church, "Church of the Pioneers", was the first Church, first Anglican Church, and is the oldest building in Melbourne. The foundation stone was laid in 1839 by the Superintendent of the District of Bourke, Charles La Trobe, later Governor of the Colony of Victoria. The Church was opened in 1842 and the first Bishop Charles Perry was installed in the Cathedral in 1848 when its status changed to that of Cathedral. Its status changed back to that of a Parish church after 1891 when St Paul's Cathedral in Swanston Street was opened. St James is known as the "Church of the Pioneers" as it served as the place of worship, marriage, baptism and burial of many of the first families in the District of Bourke and the Colony of Victoria. St James Old Cathedral is of the most important historic value to the community of Victoria and to the Australian nation as the first Anglican Church founded within 4 years of the settlement of Melbourne. It represents and conserves the very earliest history of white settlement in Victoria and preserves the church associated history of the Pioneer families of Victoria in its collection of original records and artefacts. Late Neo-Georgian style stone church building with bluestone footings. Octagonal upper one storey bell tower housing eight bells supported by two storey square towers. Body of church has sloping roof and 4 stained glass ornamental windows on each of west and east sides with decorative sanctuary window to the north. Decorative Portico with columns on the north outside elevation. National Trust Commemorative plate on outside wall to right of east entry door. -

Functional object - Blinds
Penleigh Boyd recalls the original holland blinds, which had beautiful little brackets fitted to the columns. The replacement blinds may not be as elegant. Robin and Patricia did things as they could afford them -- hence the very early Strizic photos of Suzy in the lower living room do not show blinds (the image on the cover of the 2013 edition of Living in Australia) but they were added shortly after, by Robin.Holland blinds on 7 windows and 2 on doorswalsh st furnishings -

Functional object - Door, cabin
The Victoria Tower made landfall after a voyage of 85 days from Liverpool, and headed towards the Port Phillip Heads pilot boarding ground. It had been an uneventful voyage despite some contrary headwinds (causing the long voyage) and problems with the compasses, that could not be relied upon. The weather was hazy, with gale force winds and heavy rain squalls. Reaching the pilot ground Captain Kerr fired rockets and burned blue lights to attract attention, but met with no response. Sighting the Cape Shank lighthouse he sailed towards it, then wore the Victoria Tower onto a port tack in a westerly direction. No soundings nor observations were taken, as Captain Kerr was confident he was on a safe course and knew his position tolerably well. Vehicle - VS model commodore, April 1995
The extent of exterior changes veered not much further than a redesigned Holden logo and wheel trims. An updated Ecotec (Emissions and Consumption Optimisation through TEChnology) version of the Buick V6 engine coincided with the changes to the engine in the United States. The Ecotec engine packed 13 percent more power, an increase of 17 kilowatts (23 hp) over the VR, cut fuel consumption by 5 percent, and increased the compression ratio from 9.0:1 to 9.4:1. Holden mated the new engine with a modified version of the GM 4L60-E automatic transmission, bringing improved throttle response and smoother changes between gearsThe VS Commodore was the last of which to be sold as Toyota Lexcens, as Holden and Toyota ended their model-sharing scheme The last Lexcens were built during 1997This model was also sold between 1995 and 1997 in small numbers to Malaysia and Singapore as the Opel Calais.4 door sedan VS Commodore sedanLion and stone badge on Bonnet and on Boot centre, Commore on both mudguards Holden badge on Rear under tail lightsvehicle, vs commodore, car -

Vehicle - EJ Special sedan
The styling of the EJ was a radical departure from the previous model, the EK, with a lower roof line, a flatter boot and the absence of fins. This was the last car manufactured by GMH that utilised the "original" gray motor. Transmissions were a three speed manual, an automatic using the Hydra-matic. Auto was available in all models, including commercial vehicles for the first time. This is the last vehicle that was to be fitted with what was commonly referred to as the 132.5 cubic inch Grey motor4 Door blue with white roof sedanChrome strip along sides of car, Special badge on front Guards, Holden name across top of grill and across boot lid .Number plate Club permit 63455 Hej special sedan, manual, car -

Vehicle - HR Holden hearse
This hearse was produced by General Motors in 1966 as a Station Wagon. After major modifications were carried out to extend the body to enable the coffin to be placed into the back of the vehicle. Interestingly to note that the vehicle, on a delivery to Traralgon, was involved in an accident in the Haunted Hills near Moe, the next town to Moe. This hearse spent most of its life servicing the Traralgon Township and was subsequently purchased and restored and sold to the museum. The vehicle has special significance in that it is an extremely well presented Holden Hearse that was formally modified after manufacture .There were very few Holden Hearses used in Australia and good examples are difficult to find.Black extended body 3 door hearse.Registration plate STIFHR1966 hearse, vehicle, holden, car
