First published in 1932 and designed to fit into an average sized pocket for easy reference, this booklet was published in response to an upswing in the popularity of old time dances and reels. The fourth edition was published in 1937 and the 7th Edition was published in 1944. Robertson and Mullens , publishing company was formed in 1922 by the merger of George Robertson and Company and Melville and Mullen. Mullen and Robertson were friends who had immigrated from Scotland together and had initially set up separate bookselling and publishing businesses. The business operated out of 107-113 Elizabeth St., Melbourne and was delisted as a public company in 1960.A photocopy of Mullens Old Time Dance Guide on white paper with black text featuring an illustration of a man and a woman dancing in formal attire. The reverse side features a description of how the dances were to be performed. George Meudell was born in Bendigo in 1860, the son of a bank manager. He became a public accountant. He worked for B J Fink. He took up a seat on the Stock Exchange. He later wrote a book, 'The Pleasant Career of a Spendthrift'. The book caused a stir and was withdrawn from sale. Victorias first quarantine station was established in Port Ormond on 24 April 1840 when the government immigrant ship "Glen Huntley" arrived in the Port Phillip District flying the yellow quarantine flag . The site is marked by a cairn and plaque that was unveiled in 1985. In 1990 a second plaque was affixed to the cairn to mark the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the ship. It was unveiled at a gathering of descendants of the original passengers on 22 April 1990 by the oldest known descendant, Albert John Buntine MM.Colour photographInscription on 150th anniversary plaque: This plaque commemorates the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the ship 'Glen Huntley' at a gathering of descendants of the original passengers. The inscription on the original plaque is: This cairn marks the site of Victorias first quarantine station, which was established on the 24th April 1840 when the government emigrant ship "Glen Huntley" arrived in the Port Phillip District flying the yellow quarantine flag. The site became St Kilda's first official burial ground and the graves of the early colonists remained here until 1898 when the remains were re-interred in the St Kilda Cemetery. Unveiled by the Hon. R W Walsh MLA Member for Albert Park, Minister for Public Works, Assistant Minister for Employment and Industrial Affairs, 7th November 1985. This project was initiated by the Historical Society of St Kilda and sponsored by the Lions Club of Elwood for the 150th Anniversary of the State of Victoria. Robert "Ernie" PAYNE was a cousin to William,Henry and Thomas RHODES. The latter was 1 of 6 lives lost when they drowned in the disastrous floods of the Ovens and King Rivers on 7/6/1917.A timber and glass framed Honour Board containing 15 names and 11 black and white photographs of teachers and past students of Killawarra State School who enlisted for military service during World War 1. Following the closure of the school the Honor Board was donated to the Wangaratta RSL Sub Branch. Geelong West Cycling Club have run track cycling competitions since its inception. This shield represents the importance to the club of track cycling winners.Provides history of track cycling winners at the Geelong West Cycling track and Velodrome between 1967 to 1884Wooden shield with nickel plated small shields attached to the wood. The shield represents the G.A.C.C. Senior Track Aggregate winners for the years 1966-1984. The top of the shield bears a banner in nickel with the name W. Pat Shaw 1967 and the middle of the shield contains another plaque with the words G.A.C.C. Senior Track Aggregate engraved in the plaque."W.
