This bottle was used in the Tawonga District General Hospital which was built in the 1950's specifically for the increase in population due to the Kiewa Hydro Scheme. It was used for first aid for the treatment of bruises and joints.Small clear brown glass hexagonal bottle with black screw lid. The lid is grooved for easier opening. On the 3 front sides is a torn white label with red writing, green borders and at the bottom (of the label) black back ground and white writing. On the back is heavily embossed 'Not To Be Taken' and on each side face embossed 4 vertical lines. (to indicate poison). The base is embossed.Label: A lot of small writing in red and 'Tincture of / Iodine'. This flag was taken on Morotai in 1945 by B. Olsson VX120814 2/32 Battalion, 2nd AIF. Pre service as V245126 from 5.11.1941 - 10.12.1942, transfer to the 2nd AIF No VX120814 1.12.1942 age 20 years, served on Moravian and Borneo from 8.4.1945 0 26.1.1946, discharged from the Army 16.7.1946 as a Pte in 2/32nd BN.Rectangular silk flag white in colour with a solid red circle in the middle which is 40cm in diameter. The red circle is surrounded by Japanese writing in black ink. The flag is edged with black and red stitching. This small writing desk currently in the 'Smoker's ' lounge or Drawing Room can be seen in Victorian Railways photographs dated between 1925 and 1930's. This writing table has a raised back containing compartments for stationery printed with the Chalet letterhead provided for Guests to write letters and post cards. "Photographs of the main lounge taken between 1925 and the 30's confirm that the room was equipped with at least 2 small writing desks... Made of light coloured wood, they have raised backs containing compartments for stationery printed with the chalet letterhead. Two of the same historic desks remain at the Chalet today." Listed in Draft Inventory of Significant Collection Items. Two small blonde wood writing desks. Has backboard with upright document slots. Varnish is irregular. -

Furniture - Cabinet
This cabinet would have been made in the early 20th century for as office or home office furniture. It's neat brass lock and key gives the contents some basic security but could be easily tampered with. At some stage there were two additional divisions in the top row of pigeon holes, which would make fifteen compartments of equal size available. A cabinet such as this could be used to classify or sort items, for example, mail for different people, or categories of business papers such as bills, orders, receipts, pay book, bank book and so on.This cabinet represents the type of furniture available for offices and businesses in the early 20th century. It shows the hardware in use and the design detail such as the raised edges around the top of the cabinet.Cabinet or cupboard, stained dark brown and lacquered. Secure office storage with a lock and a key. Hinged, lift-up front panel door folds back against the lid. The inside is divided into thirteen compartments or pigeon holes. Inscribed in black painted script writing underneath.
