Annie Whitla was a student at Ballarat Technical Art School from 1915 - 1919. In 1920 she was appointed Drawing Mistress at Ararat High School. She returned to Ballarat and taught night classes in Photography at Ballarat Technical Art School from 1921 - 1922. During this period she was X-ray assistant at Ballarat Hospital. She had a teaching post at Warrnambool High School from 1923 until her retirement. In 1926 she joined the Warrnambool Hospital as an assistant in the X-ray Department. Frederick Gladstone PROCTER (1898-1977) The Ballarat Technical Art School was well known for its art metal work which was applied to product, interior and commemorative designs. Students undertook many commissions. Betty Collier was a student of the Ballarat Technical Art School in 1959 and later became a long term teacher at the SMB Arts Academy until 2005. Her work covers many areas of art - painting, drawing, sculpture using various materials and techniques. Examples of her large sculptures are exhibited in the Library at SMB Campus.
