Small watercolour painting by George Rowe in a golden wooden frame. Under a red sunset the tipical Australian bush and several tents. The main part of the painting shows the Falcon Inn pub in Peg Leg Eaglehawk, four men are standing at the entrance and two aborigines are walking on the dirt road away from the pub. Wooden box with plaque on the top ''In Memoriam''. Inside a large ornate black leather bound book with metal plaque. On the first page a black and white oval photo of Ernst Mueller. The photo is surrounded by flowers. Next page a dedication to Mrs. Anna B.F Mueller Lancewood House, McLaren Street, Bendigo, with an eulogy from the representatives of the various companies in which Mr. Mueller was involved, date at the bottom September 1910. Award - HARKNESS COLLECTION: FRAMED SHIELD
Large shield in wooden frame and under glass. The shield itself comprise two parts. On the larger, covered in blue material, the pictures of Abraham Harkness and nine other councillors. To the right we have J.H Abbott, A.S. Bailes, D.B. Lazarus, H.M. Marks, H.S. McGowan, W. Honeybone, S. Ryan, J.P. Carolin, J.R. Hoskins. The picture are oval in shape in a silver frame. Mayor Harkness is at the top. The picture are on a blue material and around a wodden shield, this shield possibly silver has the emblem of the City of Bendigo and the inscription: presented to Councillor Abraham Harkness by the Mayor, Councillors and citizens to mark their appreciation of the satisfactory manner in which he filled the high and honourable position of mayor of the City of Bendigo for the years 1897/8 and 1898/9. Painting - BANK OF NEW SOUTH WALES EAGLEHAWK
Watercolour and black pen painting of the Bank of New South Wales, Eaglehawk. Written on bottom of art:' Note room with high chimney where gold was melted into ingots to be sent to Melbourne. This bank was closed about 1920 and has been used as a shop since' Artwork signed by Alf Perry 1954. Two punch holes on LH side. Written on back in pencil : Only 3 banks in Victoria had a smelting room with tall chimney. The gold was bought and refined and melted into ingots. The three banks were at Eaglehawk, Castlemaine and Bendigo (from publicity officer Bank of NSW Melbourne). I have established that the Castlemaine Bank NSW definitely did not have a chimney stack as in this picture.
