Built in 1861 on the south side of Symonds Street opposite Irvine Crescent this building was the home of John Hicks Petty. He operated the first Post Office in Yarra Flats from here. Mr Petty, holding a baby, is standing alongside his wife Maria Louisa Petty. The cottage is built of sawn timber, placed vertically, and a shingle roof. Date is approximate. George James Jackson and family lived at 7-9 Russell Street from 1900-1950s. He and his wife were manufacturing jewellers and had a workshop adjacent to the house. Their son assisted in the business. George Jackson was very patriotic and hoisted the flag every day. His grandchildren, who lived nearby, were expected to attend on their way to school. Crafty Carson Carpetbag tricked The Flying Dogtor into stepping into the mouth of an old and deep gold mineshaft. The Dogtor fell down the mineshaft, and Crafty thought that he had succeeded at last in getting rid of his enemy. He even climbed into the Dogtor's plane and tried the controls, planning to fly it away and keep it for himself. Meanwhile, The Flying Dogtor fell deep down the mineshaft, like a stone. The mounted photograph is one of a series used for display purposes. The water tower at Sunbury Station was built in 1861 by J. Bett. it is of state significance and is an indicator of the importance of the railway to Sunbury's expansion in the Nineteenth Century. Steam trains needed sufficient steam power to climb the steep gradients over the Great Dividing Range and the water tower at Sunbury was used to replenish the trains' water supply for the remainder of the journey.A black and white photograph of the water tower at Sunbury Railway Station. In 1987 a farewell was held for John Wicking, former President of the AFB. The presentation of a medal "Rara Avis" (rare bird) and on the reverse 'Nil Taurus excretis' (no bull excretement) was made to the bemused honouree. Upon the front face of the plate is an image of Mr Wicking wearing a name plate 'The Guiding Light', as he climbs an 'Association for the Blind' sign to reach the guiding light at the top. A community group project steered by Bambi McLean led to the construction of the Eltham North Adventure Playground which opened off Wattletree Road in 1995. The structure was mainly wooden and included an undercover element with slides and areas to climb. It was destroyed by fire in the early hours of 16 December 2017. The Flying Dogtor was called to the Snowy Mountains Scheme by the Government to help solve the mystery of a monster or sea serpent, that was wandering the lakes and tunnels. Several times, the Dogtor caught a glimpse of a monster but every time, it got away before he could see it properly or speak to it. Then he came to a weird-looking lookout on the edge of the lake, and paid his sixpence to climb to the platform for a look through a telescope.
