The new Warrnambool Methodist Church was opened on 1st April 1939. The Church complex was designed by Messrs A.S. and R.A. Eggleston and built by J.D.E. and T. Walter. In 1894 John Barnaby entered the Theological Hall at Ormond college. He graduated B.A. in 1895 and finished his theological studies in 1896. He was ordained in 1898 and called to Kew Presbyterian Church. In 1903 he took his M.A. degree. In 1912 he left Kew and was appointed Neil Walter Black Lecturer at Ormond College Theological Hall. Graduated Bachelor of Divinity and also gained a Diploma of Education. Convenor Home Missions Committee until 1923. Superintendent of Group Mission from 1923. The next building has the writing "ARGUS" and Printers, Bookbinders, Stationers, on it. This was known as Berry Anderson's. William Dower took up 10 acres at Mt Dandenong in 1898. He secured a property known as Cambridge Gardens which was located between the present Mt Dandenong Tourist Road and Yarrabee Road. William and his wife Elizabeth had seven sons (Will, Harry, Bert, Walter, Joe, Edgar and Robert) and four daughters (Emmy, May, Ada and Ruby). There was a two room slab hut on the property when they took possession and they added another five rooms using trees from the property. The Pig and Whistle Tea Rooms referred to in the inscription is now Tatra Hut.
