Newspaper clipping from The Courier Ballarat, Saturday Sept. 19, 1981 - Saturday Magazine - featuring the BTPS and 10 years since the closure of the Ballarat System. Article contains story of the Ballarat tramways, the establishment of the Museum, closure and statement from Richard Gilbert, General Manager of the BTPS. Article written by John Dyall. Notes that the depot extension is to be "officially opened today" and that coupons are printed in the newspaper, giving free rides for the day. Two page Gestetner copy of an amended timetable for tram services in Bendigo for the SECV issued 29 June 1970. Gives times for the departure from the City and the terminus for the Eaglehawk, Quarry Hill, Golden Square and North Bendigo routes. Page 1 for Monday to Friday, page 2 for Saturday and on the bottom of page 2, details of Sunday services commencing from 2pm, until about 10.30pm. May have been the last timetable issued for Bendigo. On Gestetner foolscap sized paper, stapled in the top left corner. Headed the "Northern Electricity Supply Branch / Bendigo Tramways - Amended Timetable - 29th June, 1970" 1637.1 - 2nd copy added 22/08/04 - has two staples in top left hand corner. Scrap Book - with printed cardboard covers - titled scrap book on outside and reproductions of newspaper clippings printed onto covers, 64 pages off white paper. Scrap book compiled by Neville Gower from Nov. 1992 to June 1997. Primarily consists of newspaper clippings glued to the pages involving the Ballarat Tramway Museum. Also contained are other items of relevant interest, such as BTM brochures. Pages number in pencil by Warren Doubleday 2/2001. Where relevant some items contained in this book have been separately catalogued to enable easier reference. Some items were already in the collection and are thereby reference with their registered number. Also contains registered items 1659, 1654 and 1655. Gives the run number order of the tramcars out of the depot, the time out and the number of miles for the day (would have other runs within it), for Weekdays, Saturday and Sundays. Gives details of 38 tables or runs, numbered from 1 Run to 38 Run. Each sheet headed "Weekday", three runs per sheet. Saturdays - 1 to 34, Sunday - 1 to 10. Each sheet has in the top right hand corner LJD/3/70. Time table operated until the commencement of closure of the system. ESCo Employee Hours Work Record book that has been used by an ESCo/SEC inspector, H. P. James as a record / note book for his personal collection or papers or journal titled "In Other Days". Book sewn with string in 36 page sections, blank end papers, board covers with stipple paper out sides and Rexene cloth binding. Comprising plain paper end papers and 104 printed pages (52 leaves), with each sheet printed in black on feint ruled paper for recording the hours worked and other details of drivers and conductors employed by ESCo. Printed for daily use, with Day and date page headings - made out for the 1930's. Text generically printed feint ruled paper. Images: Book - i1 Inside front cover - i2 Members Certificate - i3 Photo of H.P. James and index page - i4 Has been used to gather mementos such as photos, articles, newspaper clippings, letters and other miscellaneous documents on Ballarat local history. Newspaper cuttings etc often have side notes written by Mr. James. Inside front cover has certificate recording Mr. James membership to the Ballarat Historical Society (on Australasian Historical Record Society paper) for 1937 - 1938. A side note records Mr. James elected as Vice President in 1939. Receipt signed by Edward Crimmins (See Reg. Item 2486) Has a table of contents for pages 1 to 65. Thirty Six page, with glossy white cover and plain white paper inside - "The Tramway Record Vol. 54, No. 13 Sept. 1992" - with title in green ink and Australian Tramway and Motor Omnibus Employees Association logo on the front cover. Printed by the Victorian branch of the union. Features on the front cover a photo (see image) of the tramway holiday flats at Rosebud. Other items featured are "Tram Stories" written by Frank Puls (Ballarat), pages 29 - 30, about his tramway driving days in Melbourne at Preston in the late 1950's and a photo of Frank standing next to W2 543 at Thornbury on 3/1/1963. On page 32 is a one page item about the Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society, and the former SEC Tramway Employees day on 3/10/1992 when the BTPS was celebrating 21 years.
