In 1992 the children from the Bulla Primary School had an excursion to Woodlands Park for a Colonial Day where they were introduced to old crafts and skills. The children are from Bulla Primary School. There are a series of photographs in the collection which featured school improvements which were carried out on the building and the grounds in 1994 at the Bulla Primary School No. 46. The improvements included painting the school buildings, installing new playground equipment and laying our the school garden to include a vegetable garden. The first classroom to be built was a bluestone building, which opened in 1870. The narrow swing catanery bridge was built behind the school across the Deep Creek downstream from the bluestone Bulla Bridge. It was built so that children who lived on the south side of Bulla Township could access the school more easily and in shorter time than if they had to go by the main roads.The bridge was constructed in the days when most children walked to school. The building is the former Greenvale State School No. 890. Although a school had been functioning at Greenvale since 1870. This is a photo of the school building that was renovated in 1926. At weekends the building was often used for family gatherings and social functions in the district. As the area became developed and changed from a country settlement to a suburb, the school was relocated to a new building closer to the new housing development. The existing building became a community centre. Councillor Pauline DeLuca was driving the grader and 'turning the first sod' at the beginning of the upgrade work that was done on the Bulla Community Centre. She was the councillor who represented that area in the former Shire of Bulla. The students from Bulla Primary School were taken on a nature excursion to a nearby nature park as part of their scientific and environmental studies. They were studying the number and types of insects that could be found in the plants and water in the area. The park ranger then asked them to identify any insects on the chart that they found. The monument is on George Evan's grave. George Evans died on 26th August 1876, aged 92.
