Union badge that belonged to Victorian Railways tram motorman Norman Charles Boucher - see item 7056 for biography. VR Tram crews were members of the Australian Railways Union Tramway Division. The ARU was formed in 1920 and merging with other rail and public transport unions to form the RTBU in 1993. The manufacturer's name obscurred - possibly Treloar of Sydney.Demonstrates an ARU badge.badge - brass, pressed and formed for use in a button hole. Dark and light blue enamel with a silver surround. Rescued from bonfire when Linton Station was demolished, by Fred Freestone. Donated to Society 1981.Two brown leather pouches. Bag 1 has brass plate which reads "Linton" (plate attached to square of leather stitched to bag). Bag 2 has the word "Linton" written in ink on front, where leather patch and brass plate used to be. Each bag has two brass loops at top, holding a leather strap which keeps the pouch closed. A brass padlock with a key is attached to the strap.Makers' marks: On padlock 1 and its key: "M 63" "J. A wheat silo was erected on railway land adjacent to the Sunbury Station in 1967. Frank Millett handled the operations. As bulk handling was the preferred way to transport wheat, the silo gave local cereal growers to deliver their grain to the railhead. Over the years of the operation 200 grain wagons delivered wheat annually to the silo. In 1984 the silo was dismantled and removed.Cereal growing was one of the agricultural activities carried out in the Sunbury and surrounding areas for many years.A non-digital coloured photograph of a metal wheat silo being dismantled.
